The Watching Life Of Asian Elephant Trackers

Human-elephant conflict is a special phenomenon formed by the conflict between humans and wild animals during the development of the human society.Such conflict is particularly serious in Pu’er and Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province,China.In order to alleviate the humanelephant conflict,the local forestry department has set up the position of Asian elephant monitor,then hired local villagers to perform manual monitoring and early warning of Asian elephants.This group rarely enters the public’s field of vision,and what is less known is that they have to face huge risks in their daily work.This report examines the stories of Asian elephant monitors within Pu’er City under the background of escalation of the human-elephant conflict through in-depth interview and participatory observation.The daily work of the Asian elephant monitor Yang Zhongping is taken as the main research line,which is intersected with the work and life stories of other monitors.It is hoped that their stories can give a full display of the contradiction between the locals and elephants,and lead readers to reflect on contradictions between the survival and development of local people and the protection of wildlife.Environmental issues are related to the survival and development of human beings.The attention paid by the press to environmental issues is manifested by the increasing environmental news,but how can environmental news more comprehensively and profoundly reflect the facts of the news,and how to better explain and publicize the far-reaching impact of environmental changes to the audience,it will still need academia and industry make a more extensive discussion in the future.The work elaborates on "Research on the Interview and Writing Strategy of Environmental News In-depth Report--Also on the Generation of a Report",which is presented in the form of small papers,using case analysis and investigation research methods,through a specific analysis of three environmental news in-depth reports in the green version of “Southern Weekly”,to probe into the issues that need to pay attention to in the process of interview and writing of environmental news in-depth reports,so as to make environmental news present the depth required by contemporary news reporting.At the same time,it expounds the source,meaning and specific design process of the work,combined with the experience in the interview process,and summarizes the practical strategies used by the author in the process of report writing.
