Tarim red deer is a unique red deer subspecies and regional characteristic breeding animal in Xinjiang. In Xinjiang, there are many investigation reports on intestinal parasite infection in cattle, sheep, horses and other domestic animals, but there are few investigations on intestinal parasite infection in Tarim red deer.In this study, the intestinal parasitic infection and cryptosporidium species identification of Tarim red deer in some areas of Xinjiang were investigated by microscopy and PCR,in order to provide basic reference for the prevention and control of parasitic diseases of deer in China.(1)To understand the intestinal parasitic infection of Tarim red deer in some areas of Xinjiang.From2020 to 2021,fecal samples of 630 Tarim red deer from 10 farms in The Second Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Shaya County were collected, and the intestinal parasitic infection was detected by floating method with saturated sucrose solution.105 samples were found to be positive for parasite oocysts/eggs,with a total infection rate of 16.7%(105/630).Among them,8 fields had the highest infection rate of 51.6%(16/31),and 6 fields had the lowest infection rate of 6.5%(8/123).There were significant differences in intestinal parasitic infection among different farms(P>0.01).The intestinal parasitic infection rates of lt;3 months,3 ~ 6 months,6 ~ 12 months,12 ~ 24 months and older than 24 months were 37.7%(26/69),60.7%(17/28),1.5%(3/181),19.7%(38/193)and 17%(27/159),respectively.The infection rate of intestinal parasites was significantly different in different months(P<0.01).Four intestinal parasites were detected, and coccidia was the dominant species, with an infection rate of 10.3%(65/630).The infection rates of Whipworm,Strongylodes and cryptosporidium were 2.7%(17/630),0.2%(1/630)and 4.3%(27/630),respectively.The results suggest that coccidiasis is the main infection species of intestinal parasites in Tarim red deer in some areas of Xinjiang.(2)In order to understand the species and genotype distribution characteristics of Cryptosporidium in Tarim Red deer in some areas of Xinjiang,PCR method was used to detect cryptosporidium in 630 fecal samples of Tarim red deer. The results showed that the infection rate of cryptosporidium was 8.4%(53/630),and the highest infection rate was 25.0%(3/12)in 9 fields. There was significant difference in infection rate among different sampling fields(P>0.05),and the highest infection rate of Cryptosporidium was 39.3%(11/28)at 3 ~ 6 months of age.The lowest infection rate of Cryptosporidium was 3.7%(6/139)in tarim red deer older than 24 months, and there was significant difference in infection rate among different months(P<0.01).Four cryptosporidium species/genotypes were identified by sequence analysis, which were Cryptosporidium panicum(n = 8),Cryptosporidium parvum(n = 19),Cryptosporidium xiao(n = 3)and cryptosporidium deer genotypes(n = 23).The results suggest that cryptosporidium spp.of Tarim deer in some areas of Xinjiang has genetic diversity. In conclusion, the intestinal parasitic infection rate of Tarim red deer in some areas of Xinjiang is low,and coccidia is the dominant infection species.Tarim red deer;Cryptosporidium parvum and cryptosporidium deer genotypes are the dominant species and genotypes of cryptosporidium, and the detection and population genetics of cryptosporidium in Tarim red deer should be strengthened in the next step. The results provide basic data for the study of intestinal parasitic infection in Deer in China..
