| Objective:This study investigated the correlation between TG/HDL-C and metabolic syndrome(Met S)in elderly Chinese and evaluated the ability of TG/HDL to predict metabolic syndrome in elderly Chinese. Methods: In this study, the physical examination data of 1267 elderly people aged more than 65 years in the community were selected to collect the TG/HDL-C ratio, diagnosis of metabolic syndrome, age, gender, height, abdominal circumference, weight and other data. All cases included in the study were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression analysis of two related variables using SPSS software, and ROC curves were made..Result:Pearson correlation analysis results showed that TG/HDL had a significant positive correlation with Met S(r=0.351,P<0.001).After adjusting for age, gender, blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index, blood pressure, abdominal circumference and other factors, linear regression analysis showed that TG/HDL-C was still significantly correlated with metabolic syndrome.ROC curves of TG/HDL-C and Met S showed that in the elderly population, the TG/HDL-C ratio of 0.413 was the optimal critical value for the prediction of metabolic syndrome,at which time the specificity and sensitivity were the most appropriate(95.2% and 93.7%,respectively)..Conclusion: There was a strong correlation between TG/HDL-C and Met S.Older Chinese with a high TG/HDL-C ratio had a higher risk of Met S.TG/HDL-C can be used as a good predictor for the elderly in China. |
