| Objective:To investigate and understand the current status of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)health literacy of college students in a certain area of Jilin Province,and to analyze the influencing factors,some countermeasures are put forward to improve the level of TCM health culture literacy of college students,so as to improve their ability of using TCM knowledge to deal with health problems.These measures play a positive role in further safeguarding and promoting college students’health.Methods:In this study,900 students from three universities in a certain area of Jilin Province were selected by cluster random sampling,and the questionnaire was based on“Chinese citizens health culture literacy questionnaire of Chinese medicine”,including three parts:Demography characteristic,Chinese medicine health culture literacy and Chinese medicine health culture knowledge dissemination.SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis of the data,frequency and constituent ratio were used to represent the counting data,chi-square test was used for comparison,and Logistics regression analysis was used in analyzing the influencing factors.Results:1.The level of TCM health literacy of college students in a certain area of Jilin province is 24.5%,the five dimensions of TCM health culture literacy levels of TCM were:36.3%of basic concepts of TCM,1.8%of public appropriate methods of TCM,57.1%of healthy lifestyle of TCM,57.9%of general knowledge of the TCM,and 41.2%of information understanding ability of TCM.2.In different ethnic groups,the literacy level of the Han students was 25.7%,and that of minority students was 15.9%,the different was statistically significant(x~2=4.871,P=0.030);in different grade groups,the literacy level of students in different grades was different,and the difference was statistically significant(x~2=21.832,P<0.001);in different professional groups,the medical students literacy level was the highest 35%,and the science and engineering students’literacy level was the lowest 13.8%,the difference was statistically significant(x~2=36.778,P<0.001);in students from different places of origin,the literacy level of students from urban areas was 33.9%,which was higher than that of students from rural areas 18.5%,the difference was statistically significant(x~2=27.024,P<0.001);There were statistically significant differences between students who had immediate family members suffered from chronic diseases and those who did not(x~2=17.750,P<0.001);In students who have or have not participated in a class or a lecture group,26.9%have participated in a class or lecture,and 18%of students who have not participated,the difference was statistically significant(x~2=7.589,P=0.007).3.The most desirable ways for students to acquire the knowledge of health culture of TCM were,elective courses special lectures and propaganda columns.Chinese medicine was the first choice for 32%of the students,97.5%of the students thought that the health culture of TCM has a positive effect on social medicine,95.5%of the students thought that the spread of TCM health culture has promoted the worldwide spread of Chinese culture.Conclusion:1.The level of TCM health literacy of college students in a certain area of Jilin province is 24.5%,higher than that of Chinese citizens in 2017,but the level of TCM public appropriate methods literacy in five dimensions is relatively low and needs to be improved urgently.2.The main influencing factors of TCM health literacy level of college students in a certain area of Jilin Province were nationality,grade,major,student origin and whether their immediate relatives suffered from chronic diseases.3.College students in this area have a very high degree of recognition for the health culture of traditional Chinese medicine,but the number of those who choose to seek medical treatment as their first choice showed a not situation,and the popularization of health knowledge of TCM still needs to be improved,elective courses and special subject lectures are the means approved by students. |
