| Objective:In this study, the correlation between quantitative EEG(QEEG)and motor symptoms and degree of cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson’s disease(PD)was analyzed to discuss the prediction and evaluation value of QEEG for brain injury in PD patients. To explore a new and objective examination method can be used to evaluate the disease progression of Parkinson’s disease patients, provide the basis for clinical diagnosis and predict the development direction of the disease. Methods:To collect a total of 187 patients with Parkinson’s disease who were hospitalized in the Department of Neurology of Qujing No.1 Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 as the experimental group,to recruit a total of 90 healthy volunteers without brain injury or cognitive impairment as the control group during the same period. All the subjects need to complete the video electroencephalogram(EEG),MMSE score and MOCA score. To obtain the energy values of frequency bands α,β,δ and θ of EEG by QEEG software,to calculate the sum of fast wave power value/sum of slow wave power value[(α+β)/(δ+θ)value]in each brain region as the observation index. The PD group(experimental group)also needed UPDRSⅢscore.Analysis and comparison:1.PD group VS control group:(1)To compare the differences of gender, age and years of education between the two groups;(2)To compare the differences of MMSE score,MOCA score and(α+β)/(δ+θ)values in each brain region between the two groups.2.PD group:To analyze the correlation between UPDRSⅢ scores and(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of each brain regions in PD patients.3.To select PD patients with years of education≥9 years:(1)To divide the subjects into 5 groups according to the MMSE scores,to analyze the difference of(α+β)/(δ+θ)values among each group. If the result is positive, further analysis:the correlation between the scores of each cognitive domain of MMSE and the(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of each brain region.(2)To divide the subjects into 4 groups according to the MoCA scores,to analyze the difference of(α+β)/(δ+θ)values among each group. If the result is positive, further analysis:the correlation between the scores of each cognitive domain of MoCA and the(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of each brain region.4.To select PD patients with MMSE score≥27 points and MOCA score≥26 points, and general population with education years≥9 years in the control group. To compare the difference of(α+β)/(δ+θ)values between PD patients with normal cognition and general population.Results:1.Compared with the control group, there were differences in(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of bilateral frontal region, left posterior temporal region, left central region and bilateral parietal region, and significant differences in MMSE scores and MOCA scores in PD group.2.There was no correlation between UPDRSⅢ scores and(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of each brain region in PD patients.3.(1)The(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of QEEG in the frontal and temporoparietal regions can reflect the severity of brain injury in PD patients with moderate and severe cognitive impairment or dementia.(2)The impairment of the frontal,temporo-parietal and occipital lobes in PD patients is closely related to cognitive impairment, mainly manifested in visuospatial and executive functions, computational power and attention, memory, and language fields.4.Compared with general population, there were significant differences in(α+β)/(δ+θ)values of frontal, temporoparietal and occipital regions in PD group. It is suggested that PD patients with normal cognition exist brain injury in frontal lobe, temporal lobe and occipital lobe at early stage.Conclusions:1.QEEG can be used to evaluate the brain injury in PD patients, and the brain damage in the frontal lobe, temporal and parietal lobe and central region is more obvious.2.The frequency band energy values of QEEG did not reflect the severity of brain injury associated with motor symptoms.3.In the frontal and temporoparietal regions, the frequency band energy values of QEEG can reflect the severity of brain injury in PD patients with moderate and severe cognitive impairment or dementia.4.QEEG examination can reflect the correlation between cognitive impairment in different areas and various brain regions in PD patients.5.QEEG examination can be used to detect the brain injury in PD patients at early stage and predict the development direction of the disease. |
