In 2019,several cases of violence against medical workers contributed to the tension between medical workers and patients. When COVID-19 broke out in China in 2020,Chinese medical personnel fought against the epidemic at the risk of being infected, and their efforts eventually won the public’s gratitude, bring about a harmonious doctor-patient relationship ever since. With great importance to people’s health,a decision was made to promote the building of a healthy China by the government.Besides,a law was taken effect on 2020 to protect the personal safety or dignity of medical personnel from being threatened or harmed. In this context, medical personnel demonstrate a higher level of occupational commitment, which improves the efficiency of the medical system while also leading to a better medical experience for patients. Therefore,to figure out whether and how the doctor-patient relationship affects medical personnel’s occupational commitment, the meaning of conducting empirical research should be emphasized.According to the COR,the study established a research model of the effects exerted by the medical personnel’s cognition of doctor-patient relationship on their occupational commitment. In this study,574 valid samples were collected from on-the-job medical personnel with the methods of questionnaire survey. Conclusions of empirical research drawn from the data processed by AMOS and SPSS are as follows:(1)the cognition of tension between patients and doctors has a negative impact on medical personnel’s occupational commitment;(2)emotional exhaustion serves as a mediator between the tension of doctor-patient relationship and occupational commitment;(3)perceived organizational support remarkably weaken the indirect effect of emotional exhaustion and negatively regulates the effect of the tension of doctor-patient relationship on emotional exhaustion. In response to the above conclusions, the following feasible measures were proposed in this paper: firstly, relevant departments and society are supposed to create a good environment where doctor-patient relationship will develop in a sound way;secondly, medical personnel need to enhance their communication skills and the ability to handle stress in order to avoid emotional exhaustion;finally, the hospital should monitor the level of emotional exhaustion of medical personnel by establishing a database and provide immediate help and support.
