Objective: The clinical characteristics of ground glass nodules were further elaborated by retrospectively analyzing the differences between multiple ground glass nodules and single ground glass nodules in the lungs in terms of basic clinical information, pathological staging, and imaging performance under high-resolution CT.Methods: The clinical data of 113 patients with pulmonary ground glass nodules from September 2018 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and all patients were treated by thoracoscopic surgery.According to the number of ground glass nodules, they were divided into multiple nodule group and single nodule group. The multiple nodule group included 58 patients with 131 ground glass nodules, and the single nodule group included 55 patients with 55 ground glass nodules.A database was established with the basic clinical information, pathological staging and imaging characteristics of the patients, and the data were analyzed and processed using SPSS25 software(unpaired data t-test and Fishers exact test). Results: The multiple ground glass nodules group(n=58)included 15 cases of atypical adenomatous hyperplasia,24 cases of carcinoma in situ,28 cases of microinvasive adenocarcinoma,39 cases of invasive adenocarcinoma, and benign lesions;19 cases. The single nodule group included 6 cases of atypical adenomatous hyperplasia,7 cases of carcinoma in situ,13 cases of microinvasive adenocarcinoma,15 cases of invasive adenocarcinoma, and 5 cases of benign lesions.Specific comparative results were as follows:(1)General clinical information: there were no statistical differences in gender, age, smoking history and presence of clinical symptoms between the two groups(P >0.05).(2)Imaging characteristics: the diameter of multiple ground glass nodules(13.09mm)was smaller than that of single nodules(14.06 mm). There was no statistical difference between the two groups in terms of burr sign, pleural pull sign, lobar sign bronchial inflation sign and clear boundary.(3)Histopathological findings: infiltrative adenocarcinoma occurred more frequently in the dominant lesion with multiple ground glass nodules. Conclusion: There were no significant differences in age, sex, smoking history,or location of lesions between multiple nodules and solitary nodules.Multiple ground glass nodules are characterized by small diameter, pure ground glass nodules, smooth margins, and a round or oval shape.Surgery of multiple nodules is relatively difficult and postoperative complications are more common. |
