ObjectiveThis study investigated the current situation and influencing factors of examination anxiety, metacognitive ability, academic self-efficacy,coping style of undergraduate nursing students, and explored the correlation between examination anxiety, metacognitive ability, academic self-efficacy and coping style. In order to reduce the test anxiety of undergraduate nursing students,it provides theoretical basis for improving students’ coping style by improving their metacognitive ability and academic self-efficacy.MethodBy using the convenient sampling method,in May ~ August 2018,under-graduate nursing students from five general higher education medical colleges in Liaoning Province(Shenyang Medical College,Liaoning University of traditional Chinese Medicine,Jinzhou Medical University,Dalian Medical University,China Medical University)were taken as the research subjects. The general situation survey scale, test anxiety scale, college students’ metacognitive ability scale, academic self-efficacy questionnaire and simple coping style questionnaire were used to carry out the questionnaire survey.Using SPSS20.0 software to input data, using descriptive analysis,t test and analysis of variance,Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis;using AMOS22.0 software to establish structural equation model and verify.Results1.The scores of anxiety(18.14±3.00),metacognitive ability(80.59±10.43),academic self-efficacy(74.69±10.78),positive coping style(1.50±0.43)and negative coping style(0.96±0.46)in undergraduate nursing students.2.Examination anxiety was statistically significant in gender, grade, whether it was an only child, and whether it liked nursing specialty(P<0.05).metacognitive ability was statistically significant in gender, grade, whether it was an only child, and whether it liked nursing specialty(P<0.05).Academic self-efficacy was statistically significant in gender, grade, whether it was an only child, whether it liked nursing specialty(P<0.05)positive coping style and negative coping style were statistically significant in gender, grade, whether it was an only child, whether it liked nursing specialty(P<0.05).3.The anxiety level of undergraduate nursing students was negatively correlated with positive coping style(r=-0.48,P<0.01),positively correlated with negative coping style(r=0.54,P<0.01),positively correlated with positive coping style(0.31,P<0.01)and negatively correlated with negative coping style(0.33,P<0.01).P<0.01)was negatively correlated with negative coping style(r=-0.39,P<0.01),while anxiety level was negatively correlated with metacognitive ability(r=-0.16,P<0.01)and academic self-efficacy(0.24,P<0.01).4.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that test anxiety, metacognitive ability and self-efficacy could predict both positive and negative coping styles(test anxiety on positive coping style:β=-0.11,t=-3.39,P<0.01;test anxiety on negative coping style:β=0.34,t=10.99,P<0.01;metacognitive ability on positive coping style:β=0.19,t=9.30,P<0.01;metacognitive ability on negative coping style:β=-0.15,t=-7.90,P<0.01;academic self-efficacy on positive coping style:β=0.43,t=21.24,P<0.01;academic self-efficacy on negative coping style:β=-0.21,t=-11.11,P<0.01).5.The results of structural equation showed that metacognitive ability and academic self-efficacy had indirect influence on test anxiety and positive coping style, with indirect effect accounting for 62.92% of the total effect, while metacognitive ability and academic self-efficacy had indirect influence on test anxiety and negative coping style, with indirect effect accounting for 26.67%.Conclusions1.Undergraduate nursing students’ test anxiety is in the middle level, and the scores of metacognitive ability, academic self-efficacy and coping style are lower.2.Undergraduate nursing students have lower level of anxiety, lower level of students’ grade, lower level of only child and students who like nursing.Undergraduate nursing students have higher scores of metacognitive ability and academic self-efficacy.The scores of negative coping style of female nursing students in undergraduate students were higher, the scores of junior students were higher, and the scores of non-only children and students who did not like nursing were relatively higher.3.The higher the anxiety level of undergraduate nursing students, the worse the metacognitive ability, the worse the sense of academic self-efficacy,and the more inclined to adopt negative coping style instead of positive coping style.4.Test anxiety, metacognitive ability and self-efficacy all predicted positive and negative coping styles.5.Examination anxiety of undergraduate nursing students can not only directly act on positive and negative coping styles, but also play a part of intermediary role through the indirect use of metacognitive ability and academic self-efficacy in positive coping styles and negative coping styles.
