Birth defects seriously endanger children’s survival and quality of life,and are public health problems that affect the population health level,population quality and socio-economic development.As one of the four medical imaging modes,medical ultrasound has been widely used in major clinical departments especially in the department of gynecology and obstetrics,and is the principal imaging method for detecting fetal birth defects.Ultrasonic computed tomography is an original ultrasound imaging method.The application of ultrasonic computed tomography in the diagnosis of congenital birth defects was first proposed in the world by the author’s medical ultrasound laboratory,which is an expansion and innovation of the existing clinical models.It is of potential application value to promote the level of prevention of birth defects and reproductive health,stabilize fertility,reduce the incidence,prevalence,disability and mortality of serious birth defects,and improve the birth population quality in China and even in the world.According to the related data,the FPGA-based ultrasonic computed tomography front-end system was presented.The system used a C-type ultrasonic probe with 1024 array elements,and the collected reflection data could directly reconstruct the cross-sectional image of the measured object.Three-dimensional images to locate and observe the lesion location intuitively was rebuilt after the acquisition of multiple layers.System control adopted high-precision,high-integration,low-power FPGA chips.Hardware logic design and optimization of the emission acquisition system were accomplished,and the viability of the system design scheme were verified through simulation and experiment of the practical circuit.The main contents in this paper are as follows: First,a brief introduction to the development process and basic principle of new technology of ultrasonic computed tomography,and a detailed exposition of the ultrasonic computed tomography system excogitated and completed by our medical ultrasound laboratory.Then according to the design plan,the main chip selection of the ultrasonic computed tomography system was finalized,the emission acquisition module,the synchronous clock module,the data buffer and transmission module,the system communication module,etc.were devised,and the circuit of each module was simulated and practically tested to validate the feasibility of the front-end system design project.Finally,integrated the front-end system into the principle prototype,and proved the effectiveness of the prototype through line target resolution experiments,phantom imaging experiments,pregnant rabbit safety experiments,volunteer abdominal imaging experiment,etc.The experimental results show that the imaging contour of the phantom is clear and unambiguous,the resolution can reach sub-millimeter level.
