Objective:This study intends to translate the English version of Intuitive Eating Scale-2(IES-2)into Chinese and validate the Chinese version of IES-2.We expect to investigate the scoring status of IES-2 and Self-rated Health Measurement Scales V1.0(SRHMS V1.0)in Chinese college students. What’s more,we aim to explore and analyze the relationship between the level of intuitive eating and the score of SRHMS V1.0,and to find out the main factors influencing scores of SRHMS V1.0 among Chinese college students.Methods:1.The Chinese version of IES-2 was worked out after translation, cultural combination, experts consultation.Pre-survey was used to obtain an understanding of participants’intelligibility.196 college students were selected from 8universities(ranging from second-class universities to double first-class universities)in a simple random sampling method.Item analysis,Cron-bach’s alpha coefficient evaluation,Pearson correlation analysis, content validity analysis and exploratory factor analysis were used to evaluate the reliability and validity of Chinese version of IES-2.2.The relationship between college students’level of intuitive eating and scores of SRHMS V1.0 was studied by cross-sectional study in the shape of online questionnaire.542 college students were selected from 8 universities(ranging from second-class universities to double first-class universities)in a simple random sampling method. The questionnaire consisted of three parts:basic information(sex, only child or not, medical speciality or not and so on),Chinese version of IES-2 and SRHMS V1.0.SPSS 20.0was used to analyze the data. The preliminary factors influencing SRHMS V1.0 and its sub-scales were obtained by independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA(P<0.05).The main influence factors, influence degree and influence trend were obtained by multiple linear regression.Results:1.Verification of the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of IES-2.Items and dimensions of the Chinese version of IES-2 were consistent with the original one.The result of pre-survey indicated that college students had a good understanding of IES-2.All the items passed the standard of item analysis. The Cron-bach’s alpha coefficient of IES-2 was 0.706.Cron-bach’s alpha coefficients of four dimensions:Unconditional Permission to Eat(UPE),Eating for Physical Rather Than Emotional Reasons(EPR),Reliance on Hunger and Satiety(RHSC)and Body-Food Choice consistency(B-FCC)were 0.617,0.837,0.806 and 0.789 respectively.S-CVI was 0.812.The KMO value was 0.790,the approximateχ~2of Bartlett Spherical Test was1757.284,and P<0.05.Exploratory factor analysis extracted four factors. The accumulative variance contribution was 58.77%.The factor load of each item was ranging from 0.432 to 0.907.2.Study on the relationship between the level of intuitive eating and the score of SRHMS V1.0 in college students2.1 The scoring status of IES-2 and SRHMS V1.0 in college students. The valid sample size of this study was 542.The average scores of IES-2,UPE,EPR,RHSC and B-FCC were 3.30±0.36,3.31±0.44,3.15±0.69,3.37±0.67,3.53±0.70 respectively.Scores of SRHMS V1.0 and its sub-scales were converted to the hundred mark system for better understanding. The average scores of SRHMS V1.0,Physical self-rated measurement health sub-scale,Mental self-rated measurement health sub-scale and Social self-rated measurement health sub-scale were 69.84±10.28,78.50±10.39,61.86±14.53 and 67.54±14.71 respectively.2.2 The relationship between the scores of IES-2 and SRHMS V1.0 in college students. The results of independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA indicated that factors influencing the scores of IES-2 and its dimensions were gender, minority, specialty, registered permanent residence, monthly income per parent, parental education and BMI;factors influencing the scores of SRHMS V1.0 and its sub-scales were specialty, registered permanent residence, premature delivery or not, monthly income per parent and parental education. The results of multiple linear analysis indicated that higher level of intuitive eating had a positive effect on overall self-rated health, physical self-rated health, mental self-rated health and social self-rated health after adjustment,βwas 6.166,4.486,10.106 and 3.620 respectively,P<0.05.Higher level of EPR had a positive effect on overall self-rated health, physical self-rated health and mental self-rated health after adjustment,βwas 1.944,1.793 and 4.266,P<0.05.Higher level of B-FCC had a positive effect on overall self-rated health, physical self-rated health, mental self-rated health and social self-rated health after adjustment,βwas 2.883,1.826,3.909 and 3.096 respectively,P<0.05.Conclusions:The revised Chinese version of IES-2 is a reasonably reliable and valid tool to evaluate the level of intuitive eating among Chinese college students. The health status of college students is not good, especially mental health status. The improvement of intuitive eating has a positive effect on overall health, especially on mental health.College students should not eat emotionally, but respect health and eat healthy food to meet their physical needs when facing physical, mental and social health problems.
