education on nursing professionalismMethods1.Objects and Design:A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 415 nursing undergraduates in a comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria from May 2019 to December 2020.A total of 87 sophomore nursing students were recruited from October 2019 to June 2020 and randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group.The students in the control group received routine nursing education.and the students in the intervention group received innovative educational interventions based on routine nursing education2.Instruments:The general information,innovative atmosphere,innovative self-efficacy.innovative behavior,professional self-efficacy,professional identity,and nursing professionalism were used to investigate nursing undergraduates in this study3.Data analysis:SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 were used for statistical and analysis of the dates.Statistical methods included descriptive analysis,chi-square test,independent sample t-test,paired sample t-test,one-way analysis of variance,nonparametric test,Pearson correlation analysis,multiple linear regression,and structural equation model analysisResults1.Current situation and influencing factors of nursing undergraduates’ innovative behaviors.The study showed that the average scores of innovation atmosphere,innovation self-efficacy,and innovation behavior in nursing students were 3.87±0.63,3.52±0.69,and 3.40±0.67,respectively,which were at a moderate-high level.The results of ANOVA showed that the innovative behavior of nursing students had statistical significance in the variables such as growing background,family income,parents’ occupation,parents’ education level,and intention to change major(P<0.05).The results of Multi-factor variance analysis showed that occupation of father,student support,organization support,and innovative self-efficacy were the influencing factors of innovative behavior of nursing students,which accounted for 47.3%of the variation of innovative behavior.2.Construction of structural equation model.The results showed that the average scores of the total scale of professional self-efficacy,professional identity,and professionalism of nursing students were 3.44±0.61,3.32±0.70,and 3.38±0.58,respectively,which were in the middle and high level.The final fitting indexes of structural equation model are:χ2=639.457,df=178,χ2/df=3.592.CFI=0.941,GFI=0.861,TLI=0.930,and RMSEA=0.079.The model fits well.An innovative atmosphere affects the innovative behavior of nursing students,with a path coefficient of 0.549.Innovative behavior affects professional self-efficacy and professional identity,with path coefficients of 0.267 and 0.531,respectively.Professional identity affects professional self-efficacy,with a path coefficient of 0.680.Professional self-efficacy and professional identity affect professionalism,the path coefficients are 0.433 and 0.368 respectively.3.Innovative education intervention effect.The results showed that before the intervention,the number of nursing students to change major in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in other general information and scores of each scale between the intervention group and the control group(P>0.05);After the intervention,there was no statistical difference in the number of nursing students to change majors between the two groups(P>0.05).The scores of innovative atmosphere,innovative self-efficacy,innovative behavior,professional self-efficacy,professional identity,and nursing professionalism in the intervention group were significantly improved(P<0.05),there was no statistical significance in the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion1.The innovative atmosphere,innovative self-efficacy,and innovative behavior of nursing students are in the middle and upper levels.Family factors such as father’s occupation,innovative atmosphere,and innovative self-efficacy are predictive factors of innovative behavior of nursing students.College nursing educators can start by improving the innovative atmosphere and innovative self-efficacy of nursing students to carry out nursing education reform.2.Innovative education is very important to improve the professionalism of nursing undergraduates.An innovative atmosphere has a significant influence on professional self-efficacy,professional identity,and professionalism through innovative behavior.Therefore,nursing educators can improve the cultivation of nursing undergraduates’ professionalism3.The innovative quality and professional quality of nursing students who received innovative education intervention were more significantly improved than those who simply received traditional nursing education. |
