Background:Pelvic girdle pain is a common disease in pregnant and postpartum women and can cause dysfunction in women.The incidence of postpartum pelvic girdle pain is high.Some patients will spontaneously remission after delivery,but there are still a number of patients with pelvic girdle pain that persists for months to years.It has a serious impact on women’s lives,affecting their daily activities and social activities,which negatively affects women and their families.Therefore,it is necessary to enhance the awareness of postpartum pelvic girdle pain and to effectively manage it.Objective:To investigate the incidence and influencing factors of postpartum pelvic girdle pain.To describe the pain characteristics of postpartum pelvic girdle pain.To describe the effects of postpartum pelvic girdle pain on daily activities and depression in women.Methods:In this cross-sectional study,convenience sampling method was used to select 1038 women at 6 weeks postpartum who were admitted to the obstetric clinic of Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from September 2020 to March 2021.The General Information Questionnaire was used to collect the basic data of the women.The location and severity of the pain were assessed by using pain schematics combined with scores of Number Rating Scale.The word frequency of the short-form of McGill Pain Questionnaire-2 was used to describe the nature of the patient’s pain.The pelvic girdle questionnaire and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale were used to evaluate the effects of pelvic girdle pain on daily activities and depression.Univariate analysis was used to explore the influence of various variables on postpartum pelvic girdle pain.Significant variables in the above analysis were included in multivariate regression analysis to explore the influencing factors of postpartum pelvic girdle pain.Results:Postpartum pelvic girdle pain occurred in 334 of 1038 women(32.2%).Univariate analysis showed that age,low back pain before pregnancy,parity,daily exercise duration during pregnancy,low back pain during pregnancy,other complications occurred during childbirth,twin pregnancies and above,premature birth,birth weight,neonatal feeding pattern,the most common position of breastfeeding in recent week,the primary caregiver of the baby and so on have an effect on postpartum pelvic girdle pain(P<0.2).Multivariate regression analysis showed that five factors,including low back pain before pregnancy,parity,low back pain during pregnancy,the most common position of breastfeeding in recent week,and the primary caregiver of the baby,entered the regression equation.Most of the postpartum pelvic girdle pain occurred in the posterior of the pelvis(near the sacroiliac joint),accounting for 50.6%of the total.The median score of pain severity was 3,and the nature of pain was mostly aching pain.The score of total pelvic girdle questionnaire was 21.97±17.35,in which the score of activity subscale was 21.92±18.13,and the score of symptom subscale was 21.96±18.03.In addition,there was an association between pelvic girdle pain and depression symptoms in postpartum women when applying cutoffs of 9 or 12(P<0.05).Conclusion:The incidence of pelvic girdle pain at 6 weeks postpartum was high,low back pain before pregnancy,parity,low back pain during pregnancy,the most common position of breastfeeding in recent week,and the primary caregiver of the baby are the influencing factors of postpartum pelvic girdle pain.At 6 weeks postpartum,the most common site of pelvic girdle pain was the posterior pelvic area,some women had more than one pain site,and the pain intensity was mild.In addition,pelvic girdle pain at 6 weeks postpartum affected women’s daily activities adversely,with the top five ranking of impact being having normal sex,sitting for more than 60 minutes,lifting heavy objects,standing for more than 60 minutes,and bending over.and there was also an association between pelvic girdle pain at 6 weeks postpartum and postpartum depression.
