Objective Describe the fever characteristics of severe adenovirus pneumonia and to explore the influence of age, gender, mixed detection, viral load and the use of drugs on fever characteristics. Methods 162 patients with severe adenovirus pneumonia admitted to the children’s Hospital of Chongqing University from January 2019 to December 2019 were collected, including clinical symptoms, etiological examination results, adenovirus load, the use of intravenous immunoglobulin and glucocorticoid. The fever characteristics of patients with severe adenovirus pneumonia were described. We explored the effects of age, sex, viral load and drugs on the characteristics of fever. Results 1.Severe adenovirus pneumonia occurs in infants aged from 6months to 3 years old, with the median age of 16.5 months;the ratio of male to female is 1.20:1;fever presented on the third day of the course of disease, which reaches the peak on the fifth day,and drops to normal on the twelfth day.The fever is mostly moderate to high fever, with an average peak temperature of(39.92 ± 0.76)℃.Irregular fever is the most common type of fever.2.The fever temperature in the co-detection group is higher than that in the adenovirus group, and the length of fever is longer(P <0.05);3.Adenovirus load was positively correlated with fever duration and fever peak(P < 0.05);4.In our research, the body temperature and fever duration of the patients in the IVIG group were higher than those in other treatment groups(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant;5.The use of glucocorticoid can effectively reduce body temperature of patients(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant;6.Age and gender had no significant effect on fever characteristics(P > 0.05).Conclusion 1)Severe adenovirus pneumonia occurs in infants aged from 6 months to 3 years old, with the median age of 16.5 months;the ratio of male to female is 1.20:1.Fever presented on the third day of the course of disease, which reaches the peak on the fifth day,and drops to normal on the twelfth day.The fever is mostly moderate to high fever, with an average peak temperature of(39.92 ± 0.76)℃.Irregular fever is the most common type of fever.2)Co-detection was common in severe adenovirus pneumonia, and was significantly associated with higher body temperature and longer fever duration;3)Adenovirus load was positively correlated with fever duration and fever peak.4)The fever duration and the body temperature of patients treated with IVIG were longer than those in other groups, which related to higher viral load of cases in IVIG-group.5)The use of glucocorticoid can alleviate the body temperature of febrile patients.6)Age and gender had no significant effect on fever characteristics...
