Development,Reliability And Validity Of The Benefit Finding Scale Of Caregivers For Children With Cerebral Palsy

Objective:Qualitative interviews were conducted with caregivers of children with cerebral palsy to understand the content of sense of benefit of children with cerebral palsy and determine the source of relevant items of sense of benefit;To develop the "benefit finding scale for caregivers of children with cerebral palsy",and test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire,so as to provide an evaluation tool for evaluating the caregiver benefit of children with cerebral palsy.Methods: Qualitative interview stage: using convenience sampling method,selected12 caregivers of cerebral palsy children in pediatric rehabilitation center of Heping Hospital of Shenyang Northern theater general hospital for semi-structured in-depth interview.Template method was used to analyze the interview data.The development and reliability and validity test of benefit finding scale for caregivers of children with cerebral palsystage: Based on the theoretical framework of caregiver benefit,combined with the results of literature review and qualitative interview,the dimensions and items of the questionnaire were determined.After two rounds of expert evaluation(8),the proposed item pool was screened and adjusted,the unimportant or irrelevant items were deleted,and the similar items were merged to form a pre-test questionnaire.11 caregivers of children with cerebral palsy were selected for the pre experiment to test the practicability and feasibility of the items in the test population and form the initial questionnaire.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,260 caregivers of children with cerebral palsy were selected for the test.IBM SPSS24.0 was used for item analysis(Discrete degree analysis;critical ratio method;correlation coefficient method),validity(Content validity and construct validity)and reliability test(Internal consistency reliability;half reliability;test-retest reliability).Results:The first stage: it was preliminarily concluded that the caregivers’ sense of benefit of children with cerebral palsy included seven aspects(promotion of knowledge and practice,personal growth,self-respect and other respect,positive life,family relationship,social relationship and positive impact on children).The second stage: 1.According to the research results of the first stage,combined with the theoretical framework of caregiver’s sense of benefit and literature review,the first draft of the caregiver’s sense of benefit questionnaire for children with cerebral palsy was prepared.The first draft included 7 dimensions and 63 items,and the scoring method of the questionnaire was determined.2.After two rounds of expert consultation(13 items were deleted,45 items were retained after some items were modified and merged)and pre experiment,a 45 item initial questionnaire for caregivers of children with cerebral palsy was formed,including 7 dimensions(improving knowledge and behavior,personal growth,self-esteem and other respect,positive life,family growth,social influence and children’s positive influence).3.Validity Analysis:(1)The I-CVI scores of the items in the questionnaire ranged from 0.80 to 1.00,and the S-CVI was 0.91;(2)Through project analysis and exploratory factor analysis(5 common causes were extracted),The cumulative contribution rate was 69.22%,forming a formal questionnaire with 33 items including5 dimensions(personal growth,social influence,family growth,children’s positive influence and positive life);(3)the correlation coefficient between the total score of caregivers’ sense of benefit and the positive feelings of caregivers was 0.89,which had significant statistical significance(P<0.01).4.Reliability Analysis:(1)the total Cronbach’s α coefficient of the questionnaire is0.96,and the Cronbach’s α coefficient of each dimension is 0.78-0.89;(2)The overall Guttman spilt half coefficient of the questionnaire is 0.96,and the Guttman spilt half coefficients of all dimensions are above 0.80;(3)The overall test-retest reliability(repeated measurement after two weeks)of the questionnaire was 0.97,and the test-retest reliability of each dimension was above 0.80.Conclusion:1.Through qualitative research to understand the content and performance of the sense of benefit of caregivers of children with cerebral palsy,and initially determine that there is a sense of benefit of caregivers in the group of caregivers of children with cerebral palsy.Starting from the sense of benefit of care,reduce the negative experience of care,maintain the physical and mental health of caregivers,improve the quality of care,and ultimately improve the quality of life of children and caregivers.2.The questionnaire has good stability and reliability,and all the psychological indicators are satisfactory.It is preliminarily confirmed that the questionnaire can be used to evaluate the degree of benefit of caregivers of children with cerebral palsy.
