| Objectives To investigate the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)"Baochangqing" on intestinal mucosa, intestinal cleanliness, number of diarrheas, and adverse reactions before colonoscopy. Methods We recruited 90 patients based on the inclusion criteria. The patients were randomly assigned into three groups: control group,TCM group, and the combination group. Each group included 30 patients. The control group received unilateral PEG-electrolyte powder(sf-peg),the TCM group received "Baochangqing" only, and the combination group received both "Baochangqing" and PEG-electrolyte powder. The effects of the different medications on the intestinal mucosal barrier were determined by measuring the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in the rectal mucosal tissue by fluorescence immunoassay. The quality of intestinal preparation(judged by the Boston Intestinal Preparation Scale),the number of diarrheas, medication history, and adverse reaction incidents were all recorded in detail. All data were processed and analyzed by using SPSS21.0.According to the results, the advantages and disadvantages of the three methods of intestinal preparation were evaluated from various aspects. Results 1 Intestinal mucosal barrier: The expression of IL-6 in the traditional Chinese medicine group was not significantly different from that in the control group, while the expression of IL-6 in the combination group was highly significant(P < 0.0167).Compared with the TCM group, the Il-6 of the combination group was significantly decreased(P < 0.0167).There was no significant difference in TNF-α among the control group, the combination group, and the TCM group.2 Intestinal cleanliness: There was no difference in the cleaning scores of the cecum and ascending colon, flexion of liver, transverse colon and spleen, descending colon, sigmoid colon and rectum(P > 0.0167).3The frequency of diarrhea: The frequency of excretion in the TCM group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.0167).The number of excretion in the combination group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.0167).There was no significant difference between the TCM group and the combination group(P > 0.0167).4 The incidence of adverse reactions: The incidence of nausea and abdominal pain in the TCM group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P< 0.0167).The frequency of nausea and abdominal pain in the combination group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.0167).There was no significant difference between the TCM group and the combined group(P > 0.0167).The adverse reactions of the combination group were lower than those of the TCM group. There was no statistical difference in the incidence of vomiting among the three groups(P > 0.0167).Conclusions 1 "Baochangqing" combined with PEG as intestinal colonic fluid can effectively maintain the intestinal mucosal immune barrier and significantly reduce the level of inflammatory factor IL-6.Compared with the PEG in intestinal cleanliness index, there was no significant difference. It suggests that the intestinal cleaning effect of "Baochang Qing" is equal to that of western medicine.2 "Baochang Qing" is used in intestinal preparation for colonoscopy.Under the condition of satisfactory intestinal cleaning effect, the diarrhea frequency is significantly reduced. The incidence of adverse reactions such as abdominal pain and nausea was significantly reduced.Figure5;Table 12;Reference 116... |
