Objective: To explore the relationship between salivary cortisol concentration and oral health in patients with depression and anxiety, the relationship between salivary cortisol concentration and periodontal disease was studied.Methods:100 patients with depression and anxiety were collected from March 2021 to June 2021 in the psychiatric department of Chaohu Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University, including 48 patients with periodontal disease;52 patients without periodontal disease were the control group;Communicate with the subjects in advance, collect 2ml of mixed saliva from each of the two groups with a specific disposable saliva collector, and use enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to determine the concentration of salivary cortisol in the samples.Hamilton Depression Scale(hamd-24)was used to evaluate the mental status of the subjects, and the oral health status of the subjects was evaluated by oral health impact scale(OHIP-14).The general oral health status of all subjects was examined and recorded. The relationship between the above factors and the concentration of salivary cortisol was analyzed by comparing the differences of gender composition ratio, oral health status and the influence degree of oral health between the two groups. Results:There were no significant differences in sex composition ratio, age and smoking rate between periodontal disease group and non-periodontal Disease Group(P>0.05),but there were significant differences in the scores of Bi,PD,AL,and OHIP-14(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in salivary cortisol concentration between depression and anxiety(P>0.05).The concentration of salivary cortisol in patients with depression and periodontal disease was significantly higher than that in normal people(P<0.05).The salivary cortisol concentration in periodontal disease group was significantly higher than that in non-periodontal Disease Group(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)There is a positive correlation between salivary cortisol concentration and periodontal disease in patients with depression and anxiety.(2)The concentration of salivary cortisol in patients with depression and anxiety was significantly higher than that in normal people.(3)Salivary cortisol may be one of the auxiliary diagnostic tools to evaluate the risk of periodontal disease in patients with depression and anxiety.
