| Korean Confucianism is an important part of the Confucian cultureChina.Astudy on the spread and development of Confucianism in Korea,canhelp us understand the social and cultural status of the Korean Peninsula,as well as the Korean mode of thinking.Ding Ruoyong is a synthesizer of Korean Confucianism.A study on his Confucianism,to a great extent,reflects the characteristics of Korean Confucianism and the practical learning at the end of Joseon Dynasty.And the study of Koran Confucianism can promote the understanding of the development of Chinese Confucianism from a different perspective.The thesis is composed of four chapters.The first chapter gives a brief presentation of the status and significance of this research work,explains the ideas and methods taken by the author,delineates the thesis,and highlights the problem involved."The spread of Confucianism"deals with the acceptance of Confucianism during the period of Three Kingdoms,Silla and Joseon Dynasty.In this chapter,the Chinese historical materials about Korea are mainly used,so are the Three Records and The History of Koryo."The spread and development of Neo Confucianism" is about how the Neo Confucianism is taken into Silla and Joseon,and how did the scholars gradually make the Neo Confucianism a part of their local academic.Part of this chapter is demonstrated,with the help of the Three Records and The History of Koryo.The rest of the chapter is based on some Korean scholars’ writings which reflect the development of Korean Confucianism.The last chapter,by an analysis of"the Theory of Li and Qi",the characteristic of Korean Neo Confucianism mainly discusses how the scholars illustrate the Confucian classics.Beside that,through the research of "the return of ancient Confucianism" and illustrations about the Great Learning made by Chashan,try to prove that the Confucianism of Chashan is essentially trying to make the Confucianism acceptable both practically and politically. |
