With the rapid development of science and technology,scholars from all over the world pay more and more attention to the research of English scientific research papers.This paper takes a comparative method to study the characteristics of nominal stance constructions in the introductions of English research articles.Through a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the nominal stance constructions in English research article introductions written by native-speaker scholars and Chinese scholars,the effect,differences and similarities of nominal stance construction in English research article introductions used by Chinese scholars and native-speaker scholars are investigated.The results show that Chinese authors use far fewer nominal stance construction than native-speaker authors.For grammatical patterns of stance,Chinese scholars tend to use a single way of expression,while native-speaker scholars prefer to use different ways of expression.In terms of function of stance nouns,Chinese scholars use fewer entity nouns than naive-speaker scholars.Manner noun is the most frequently used function by Chinese scholars and native-speaker scholars.In addition,this study also finds that Chinese scholars have limited means to express with nominal stance constructions and they are not good at using nominal stance constructions in English.This is because Chinese scholars are influenced by Chinese language.These findings will be enlightening for Chinese scholars who intend to publish English research articles in international journals.
