| This research studies college students’ occupational gender stereotypes from both explicit and implicit perspectives, and discusses the feasibility of anti-stereotype intervention on implicit occupational gender stereotypes. This research is divided into the three parts. The first study aims to explore the existence of explicit occupational gender stereotypes and their differences in gender and gender roles.196 college students were investigated through a self-compiled and-made "Occupational Gender Stereotype Questionnaire".The results show that(1)college students have explicit occupational gender stereotypes and tend to believe that women are more suitable for service-oriented occupations while men are more suitable for professional and technical occupations.(2)There are significant gender differences among college students in explicit occupational gender stereotype, which are shown by the higher degree of male stereotypes than female stereotypes.(3)college students’ explicit occupational gender stereotypes present no significant difference in gender roles. The second study aims to explore the existence of implicit occupational gender stereotypes and their differences in gender and gender roles. The implicit association test(IAT)proposed by Greenwald was used to study 195 college students’ implicit occupational gender stereotypes. The results show that(1)college students have implicit occupational gender stereotypes, believing that women are more suitable for service-oriented occupations while men are more suitable for professional and technical occupations.(2)There are significant differences in the implicit occupational gender stereotypes of college students in terms of gender, which shows that the degree of implicit stereotypes of men is significantly higher than that of women.(3)The implicit occupational gender stereotypes of college students present no significant difference in gender roles, but the implicit occupational stereotypes of androgyny group are clearly lower than those of masculinity, feminization and undifferentiation. The third study aims to explore the feasibility of anti-stereotype intervention on implicit occupational gender stereotypes.195 college students’ implicit occupational gender stereotypes were intervened through IAT test and anti-stereotype information activation technology. The results show that starting anti-stereotype can effectively weaken the subjects’ implicit occupational gender stereotype. |
