Ritual Communication And The Construction Of Ethnic Cultural Values ——Take The Tujia Funeral Jumping Ritual As An Example

In the five thousand years of China’s excellent history,many unique ethnic cultures have been bred.As an organic carrier of ethnic culture,the ethnic ritual is a window to understand the customs and historical features of the ethnic group in all aspects,as well as a typical sample and important carrier to show the ethnic culture and ethnic characteristics.Therefore,the importance of the ethnic ritual is self-evident.The ethnic ritual not only helps the people understand the ethnic history and culture and local customs,but also reflects their unique cultural values.Not only that,ethnic ritual form the sharing of ethnic cultural values through calling,gathering and other functions in the process of communication,so as to maintain the harmony and development of the "community" of ethnic society.Therefore,this paper selects the funeral jumping ritual "sayeehe",which is very different from other mourning ceremonies and has the characteristics of Tujia ethnicity.This ethnic ritual has a history of thousands of years since its origin.It is one of the most important and representative ethnic ritual of Tujia ethnicity.It has the characteristics of ethnicity,spontaneity,and continuity.And it has shown great development potential and platform advantages in displaying and disseminating the Tujia ethnic culture.Then from the perspective of ritual communication,this paper attempts to analyze how the Tujia’s ethnic funeral jumping ritual realized the functions of calling,gathering and other functions of the people through communication,and then formed an identity with the ethnic cultural values,and then summarizes construction path of the Tujia’s ethnic funeral ritual communication to the ethnic cultural values.There are five parts in this paper.The first part is about the reason and significance of this paper,combs the literature and works related to the topic,and provides theoretical reference and support for the article.The second part is the theoretical overview.It briefly summarizes,analyzes and quotes Dissemination Ritual Concept,Turner’s ritual theory and related theories of the cultural values.With the help of these theories,it explains that ritual and its communication have the function of maintaining the society in time and constructing the cultural values of citizens,Which provide theory and rationality for study in ritual dissemination and its construct the ethnic cultural values.The third part is to present the whole picture of Tujia’s funeral jumping ritual and the ethnic cultural values it contains.In addition to introducting the live performance,historical traceability and existing state of funeral ritual,it also analyzes the elements of funeral ritual and the ethnic belief and culture in the ritual.The fourth part is to analyze the communication mode of funeral jumping ritual and its containing cultural values.Based on the theoretical resources,combined with observation,interviews and other field research activities,the paper concludes that Tujia’s funeral jumping ritual is spread by ritual scene,social space and ethnic historical memory realizes the cultural information’s transmission in space and identification in mentality,and then enhance the awareness of ethnic cultural identity and gather the consensus of ethnic cultural value.In the fifth part,on the basis of the previous analysis,the part summarizes in detail that the ritual communication of the funeral jump achieves the effect of spreading the ritual concept,realizes the function of taking time as the category and collective participation in sharing the emotional culture,and summarizes that the funeral jump promote the construction of ethnic cultural values through the ritual performance to build the myth of the ethnic Center,the ritual symbol to strengthen the ethnic cultural identity,and the ritual narrative to form the dispersion and inheritance of ethnic cultural values.
