| According to the theory of value dimensions,the author analyzes the cultural differences in the Chinese poem Mulan Ballad and the Chinese film Hua Mulan as well as the American animated film Mulan from the aspects of the theme,the new plots and the images of main characters.The author explores the reasons of the main cultural differences through making a comparative study among these three works.The cultural differences in these three works also reflect the cultural transformation of the traditional Chinese culture.On the basis of the result,we find that the Chinese poem Mulan Ballad shows the value dimensions of the collectivism,high-uncertainty avoidance,high power distance and masculinity.The Chinese film Hua Mulan reflects the value dimensions of the collectivism,high-uncertainty avoidance,high power distance and femininity.The American animated film Mulan embodies the value dimensions of the individualism,low-uncertainty avoidance,low power distance and femininity.Through the cross-cultural study among these three works,the readers can have a better understanding of these cultural differences between China and America.The cultural transformation of the traditional Chinese culture in these cultural differences can improve the competitiveness of the cross-cultural export of the excellent traditional Chinese literary works.The result of this thesis can also help to strengthen people’s awareness of the intercultural communication. |
