| With the strengthened cooperation in various fields of the Belt and Road Initiative,China has deepened scientific and technological exchanges with countries along the Road continuously.Against this background,technical exchanges among teenagers have also increased.Because of the differences in languages and its expressions between different countries,and to guarantee the smooth process of the exchange,technical interpreting plays a vital role in international teenage technical exchanges.This report,based on the author’s Chinese-English consecutive interpreting of the introduction to Guangxi Science and Technology Museum in the Third “Belt and Road” Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop,shows that the Skopos Theory can play an important role in guiding technical interpreting.According to the Skopos Theory,the translation or interpreting process should obey three rules,which are the Skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule.The Skopos rule is the central rule among all the rules,which determines the choice of translation/interpreting strategies and methods.From the levels of vocabulary,sentence and discourse,the author analyzes the problems faced in the on-spot interpreting by using the three rules of the Skopos Theory.Through the analysis,the author finds that,in technical interpreting,the interpreter can adopt some specific interpreting methods such as literal translation,free translation,omission,amplification,inversion,conversion and other strategies on the lexical,syntactic and discourse level to convey the speaker’s communicative intention accurately and achieve intra-lingual coherence and inter-lingual coherence.Based on the post-interpreting evaluation and reflection,the author tried to improve the original interpreting version further to provide some reference for the technical interpretingpractice and its related research in the future. |
