The Study On Agamben’s Artistic Thoughts

Giorgio Agamben is a very active thinker in contemporary Italy.He is well-known in Italian Philosophy and radical political theory.In recent years,with his unique views on life politics,he has been widely concerned.He and Zizek,Badio,Ranciere,Balibar,Negri are regarded as the leaders of left-wing theory in European countries.In the theoretical works of Agamben,we can find that he is also very concerned with art.As early as the 1970 s,several relevant works have been published to explore the definition and essence of art.With the development of society,the content and form of art have changed.In this process,there are constantly new art forms,among which the most distinctive example is pop art,which have brought great impact on people’s ideas.Faced with these phenomena,philosophers and aestheticians began to think about the definition and essence of art.On the basis of Hegel,Benjamin,Heidegger,Aristotle’s theories,Agamben expounds these problems.For Agamben,the reason why art takes on the present form is that there is an aesthetic framework in people’s body in advance.Art is no longer a life experience,but a test of taste.At the same time,the role of artists has also changed,they are forced to separate from art materials,art has become an absolute freedom thing.And artworks dwells in the museum and becomes the object of viewing.Faced with these changes,Agamben questioned the origin of art,devoted himself to restoring the productive nature of art and repositioning art.In this sense,Agamben pointed out that the true structure of art is “rhythm”,that is,the interruption and suspension of time.Therefore,art stands at the connection point between the new and the old,the past and the future.It opens up the space of truth for mankind through its own potential and helps people rediscover the land where poetic inhabits.Based on Agamben ’s related works and articles,this article first explains the formation process and theoretical origins of Agamben ’s thoughts,especially his thoughts on potential,and traces his theory back to Aristotle.The enrichment and development of potential theory is the basis for understanding Agamben’s artistic thought.Subsequently,the main content of Agamben’s artistic thought is elaborated,mainly from the aspects of the crisis of art,the essence of art,and the function of art.Finally,this paper will give some comments on Agamben’s artistic thought and analyze the influence of his thought on artistic development.
