A Study On The Words Used In Place Names And Their Language And Culture In Shanghai

Place names are the names agreed by people for regions,which are closely related to human life.The study of place names is also an important part of language and character workers.China has a vast territory and many place names.Because of the influence of different history,geography,economy and culture,place names are regional.This paper takes Shanghai place names as the research object,combines the theories of linguistics,history,toponymy,philology,geography and other disciplines,and uses the methods of statistical analysis,field survey,map interpretation,database research to describe and analyze Shanghai place names in detail,as follows:Based on the introduction of the general situation of Shanghai,this paper divides the geographical names of Shanghai into two categories: those related to natural geography and those related to human activities,and describes and explains them according to the frequency;secondly,this paper discusses the linguistic characteristics of the geographical names of Shanghai from the perspective of the language of geographical names and dialects;finally,this paper discusses the linguistic characteristics of the geographical names of Shanghai from the perspective of immigrant culture,colonial culture and marine culture This paper analyzes the cultural characteristics of Shanghai place names.The above research reveals the following contents: the geographical location and dialect of Shanghai greatly affect the formation and development of its place names.Therefore,Shanghai place names reflect the characteristics of rich Jiangnan Water Town.Through the investigation of Shanghai place names,this paper hopes to better understand the words with regional characteristics in Shanghai place names,and deeply understand the cultural connotation of Shanghai place names.
