William Carlos Williams(1883—1963),American poet. One of the most famous poets in European and American poetic circles.Through reading Williams’ poems,it is not difficult to find that his poems show profound natural ecological meaning in both content and form, and reflect his strong realistic concern. This was largely ignored by previous researchers.Starting from the relevant theories of ecological aesthetics and eco-criticism,this paper takes Williams’ poetry as the object of study to dig deeply into the natural ecological thoughts contained in it.Based on close reading of the text, this paper looks for clues between the lines of the poem, and tries to analyze and clarify how the poet writes about natural things and expresses ecological concerns in simple but meaningful language. This paper is divided into three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction is intended to explain the reason and significance of the topic, reviews the research status at home and abroad, and clarifies the internal relationship between Williams’ poetry and relevant theories of ecological aesthetics and eco-criticism.The text is divided into three parts, uses the synchronic method, with all-round,multi-angle analysis of concrete poems as the foundation,to explain how the Williams express the admiration of natural ecological beauty, the sigh of natural ecological pain and the yearning of natural ecological seeking through portraying harmonious habitat, rethinking the industrialization process, and expecting the Utopian vision. The conclusion is intended to sum up the paper and look forward to the future research direction.
