| Nowadays, the mutual learning in medicine becomes increasingly important.Inevitably, the translation of medical texts plays a more and more critical role.On the top of that,in a bid to answer the meets of translating such professional texts which have repeatable terms and expressions, the CAT tools develop very fast,Trados in particular for its function of Translation Memory. This Report is based on the translation of the medical text Clinical Trails in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis by the project team with the help of Trados. This book is a representative medical technical one, which mainly explains the clinical trails in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. The writer is responsible for the sixteen chapter, which focuses on the discovery, development, comparison and application of biomarkers, including various technical terms such as the name of medicines, people, institutions and diseases,as well as long sentences and complex sentences, all of which are the difficulties in translation.Hence, before the translation, the translator has read the parallel texts, searched and made term list and Translation Memories(TM),in order that the functions as term list and TM would work to translate the repeated content and make the translation more effective when translating with Trados. For problems on cohesion and coherence, the translator employs addition and omission to add cohesion to sentences, and adjusts the word order and establishes connection between the syntagm and the theme to addcoherence to the text. Finally, the translator collates the term list and TM in this translation to save the time and cost in searching information when translating texts in medicine field. This report concludes that combining the advantages of CAT tools and the subjective initiative of the translator is an effective way to optimize the translated work by discussing the difficulties of translating medical texts at lexical, syntactic and textual level and provides solutions to these difficulties under the joint efforts of Trados and the translator in the translation practice. The author hopes that this report could give some references to other translators in studying medical translation and translation with CAT tools. |
