The problem of employment is a major concern among people.In today’s fierce competitive environment,the employing units also put forward higher requirements for applicants.As for them,it is necessary to have abilities that give full play to their advantages.Previous studies has involved the macroscopical aspects.It cannot include the language.This research collecting information from Chinese and American reality shows explored applicants’language using with the qualitative approach and quantitative approach.Under the guidance of stance-taking theory of interactional linguistics,this research classified the types of stance expressing and examined its functions that applicants used.Besides,this study tried to make clear whether stance expressing was able to offer guidelines for applicants by summarizing the model of stance expressing.The researcher found that four types of stance expressing,that is,epistemic stance,attitudinal stance,affective stance and style stance.Expressing the degree of certainty,attitudes,emotion and giving expressions more concretely and clearly are the functions of stance expressing above respectively.There are also four kinds of model of stance expressing,that is,single pattern,dual pattern,triplex pattern and quadruplex pattern.In general,if the pattern includes more stance expressing,it entails more information.However,it is not appropriate for applicants to use triplex or quadruplex every time.Language is not the decisive factor during the job interview,but an influential element.Therefore,applicants have to choose suitable patterns according to the different situations.They have to make sure that the language they are used is concisely,specifically and comprehensively.
