| Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov(1899-1977)is a famous literary writer in the history of American and Russian literature,as well as an excellent literary critic.The nearly 40 years of critical research history of Nabokov in Chinese mainland can be regarded as the development history of Chinese literary circles or literary criticism in crisis and reflection.Accordingly,this dissertation takes the representative texts of Nabokov’s critical research in Chinese mainland as the main object,and strives to grasp the context of Nabokov research in Chinese mainland from changes in literary thoughts,critical discourse,and knowledge pedigrees,and summarize them,divided into three time periods: 1980-1989,1990-1999,2000-present,examine the different dimensions of Nabokov’s criticism of Nabokov during these three periods and the reasons behind it.This will not only make the practical significance of the current Chinese Nabokov research more prominent,but also provide certain enlightening significance for the expansion of the Nabokov research dimension.The text of this paper includes the following four chapters:Chapter 1: The nascent period of Nabokov’s critical research: the coexistence of new and old research discourse(1980-1989).This chapter first expounds the two opportunities for Nabokov to sneak into Chinese mainland—— "modernism fever" and "mind emancipation,reform and opening up",and then discusses Nabokov’s slow transition in literature and art in the early 1980 s.The work is labeled as decadent thought,with the gradual revival of critical enlightenment in the middle and late stages,the background of literature turning inward,and the turn of literary theory to language pedigree,the criticism of Nabokov in the Chinese mainland gradually moved towards literary works themselves.Chapter 2: The advancing period of Nabokov’s critical research: the expansion of the research pattern(1990-1999).This chapter mainly discusses the three dimensions of the expansion of the research pattern of Nabokov’s criticism during the period from1990 to 1999: The first is from the work to the individual,the critics start from Nabokov’s life experience and study the Russianness of the work;the second is from the positioning of modernists to the use of postmodernist perspectives for interpretation of works;the last is from the study of his literary creation to the study of his literary criticism.The contextual motivation behind it includes the continuous fermentation of rewriting literary history,the spread of postmodernism in the 1990 s,the prosperity of formal criticism,and the marketization of criticism.Chapter 3: The Prosperous Period of Nabokov’s Critical Research: Research turn and the construction of local discourse(2000 to present).This chapter discusses the three dimensions of Nabokov’s critical research from 2000 to the present: First,it turns to the research perspective of consumer society,which is closely related to the prevalence of consumerism in China;Second,scholars actively compared Nabokov with the works of Chinese writers,the more representative ones are the comparison with Yan Geling,and the comparison between the work "Lolita" and the classic Chinese literature "The Dream of Red Mansion",in the era of globalization,diaspora literature has gradually become a new research hotspot and the construction of a Chinese perspective of comparative literature;The third is that Chinese scholars re-examine the ethics in Nabokov’s works by using literary ethics criticism with local characteristics,which reflects the attempts of scholars to construct a local critical discourse.Chapter 4: The Enlightenment of Nabokov’s Critical Research.This chapter first explains the practical significance of Nabokov’s critical research,and then discusses the general characteristics of Nabokov’s critical research-change and unchanging,incompleteness,and finally points out the existence of Nabokov’s criticism.The limitations of the research object and the failure of interpretation caused by the trap of doctrine are two shortcomings. |
