A Study On Modal Words At The End Of Monosyllabic Sentences In Sansui Dialect

Modal particles in Chinese are the main means for people to express their feelings and attitudes,and play a very important role in people’s daily communication.Because the meaning of modal particles is too empty and fuzzy,the linguists pay less attention to modal particles,especially dialect modal particles.Based on the perspective of dialect protection,this paper deeply understands the dialect modal particles and their characteristics,which is of great significance for us to deeply understand the grammatical system of the dialect.The research object of this paper is monosyllabic modal particles at the end of sentences in Sansui dialect.Based on a large number of corpus collected by the author and the previous research results,this paper systematically describes and analyzes the meaning and function of monosyllabic modal particles at the end of sentences in Sansui dialect,and discusses the conjunction of monosyllabic modal particles at the end of sentences in Sansui dialect,and then makes a comparative analysis of several interrogative modal particles in Sansui dialect and those in Putonghua,and finally summarizes the conclusion The system of modal particles at the end of monosyllabic sentences in Sansui dialect is summarized.The full text is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.This chapter is divided into two parts.The first is the general situation of the research on the modal particles at the end of sentences in Sansui dialect,including a brief introduction to the geographical location of Sansui county and Sansui dialect;explains the significance and purpose of this research,research methods and the source of corpus;introduces the current situation of the research on the modal particles at the end of sentences.The second is to introduce the related concepts of modal particles,mainly distinguish the various structures in the modal system,and then clearly define the concept of modal particles,which is the theoretical basis for our further classificat ion of modal particles at the end of dialect sentences.The second chapter is the classification of monosyllabic end-of-sentence modal words in Sansui dialect.This chapter mainly describes the system of monosyllabic modal words in Sansui dialect from the semantic function of monosyllabic modal words.Firstly,according to Li Xiaofan’s classification standard of modal words and the corpus collected by the author,the modal words at the end of monosyllabic sentences in Sansui dialect are divided into condition modal particle,modality particle and query modal particle.Condition modal particle include“La（了）,Di₁（的₁）,Lai（来）”,a total of three.Modality particle include“A₁（啊₁）,Le₁（嘞₁）,Ba₁（吧₁）,Di₂（的₂）,O（哦）,Ma（嘛）,Lo（喽）,Ga（嘎）,De（得）,Dao（倒）,Kan（看）,a total of eleven.Query modal particle include“A₂（啊₂）,A₂（啊₂）,Le₂（嘞₂）,Mei（没）,a total of four.This topic mainly describes and analyzes the semantic function of the final modal words of monosyllabic sentences in Sansui dialect in detail,which is also the focus of this paper.The third chapter is the use of modal words at the end of monosyllabic sentences in Sansui dialect.This chapter mainly summarizes the combination of modal words at the end of monosyllabic sentences in Sansui dialect,which can be used together:condition modal particle with modality particle or query modal particle;modality particle with modality particle or query modal particle.The combination of modal words may be a simple addition of modal meanings,or it may produce new grammatical meanings,for example,the two modal words“Lo（喽）and Ma（嘛）”together form a new modal word“Lo Ma（喽嘛）”,which has a different modal meaning from the previous two modal words.The fourth chapter is a comparative analysis of interrogative modal particles at the end of monosyllabic sentences in Sansui dialect and Putonghua.This chapter mainly compares the interrogative modal particles at the end of monosyllabic sentence in Sansui dialect with the corresponding interrogative modal particles in Putonghua,in order to find the similarities between the interrogative modal particles in Sansui dialect and Putonghua,as well as the uniqueness of the interrogative modal particles in Sansui dialect.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.This chapter is the summary of the full text,summary of the meaning and function of the Sansui dialect monosyllabic sentence end modal word description in detail,a systematic construction of the Sansui dialect sentence end modal word system,and pointed out the shortcomings of this paper and the future needs to work towards the direction.
