A Study On Ji Zang’s Linguistic Theory

This article is mainly based on Jingming Xuan Lun,which is a theoretical study of Ji Zang’s linguistic theory.First of all,in terms of "Jingming" and "Mojian",the author,on the basis of specifically combing and exploring the connotation of "Jingming" and "Mojian",reveals the "truth" and "teaching" of "Jingming".The theoretical characteristics of double interpretation of "truth" and "teaching",vanishing fame,and complete non-attachment,and the theoretical value of tally with "the essence of myriad existences",ideal "teaching method",the unity of "truth" and "teaching".Secondly,in terms of "teaching by words" and "the essence of myriad existences",the author not only analyzes and explains the relationship between "Saint to be silent" and "Saint teaching by words",and reveals that "Saint silence" is at the level of "teaching method" and "the essence of myriad existences" is excellence;and from the four aspects of "living and death","empty and existent","being or not",and "true and false","twofold truth" of Buddhism are discussed in terms of what can be said or not,showing that its purpose is using one of the "ending four sentences" and the "ending four sentences repeatedly" to break and break again,we can deceive the superfluous "non-duality Dharma" of "the essence of myriad existences";at the same time,we are still reviewing the concept of "salvation" in Ji Zang.On the basis of this article,it discusses the relationship between "words" and "salvation",and pointed out that the superficial meaning of Ji Zang "words are salvation" is to reveal the truth that "salvation" can be reached through "words",and its deep meaning lies in it reveals that "Mojian" can not only be by words,but also can clarify the profound meaning of "the truth of non-duality".Thirdly,in terms of "twofold truth in dependence and teaching" and "multiple twofold truth",the author not only points out that Ji Zang’s "twofold truth in dependence and teaching" is a refutation of the previous view of "twofold truth",and highlights the importance of "understanding Dharma by words",but also points out that his theory of "multiple twofold truth" emphasizes the breaking again and again to the method of "gradual sacrifice",reveals the finiteness of language,thus points out that Ji Zang’s "twofold truth" is based on his linguistic theory,and shows the new development of his theory in "twofold truth".Finally,in terms of the influence of Ji Zang’s linguistic theory,the author believes that the importance of its influence is not only reflected in his language theory as the foundation and basis method to his thoughts,but also reflected in the development of Madhyamika and Three-Treatise thoughts,and the foundation to Three-Treatise school,which are from the theoretical basis and specific application of his language theory.All in all,Ji Zang believes that although it shows a kind of uselessness to "the essence of myriad existences" in language,it plays an important function to "the convenient of teaching method",that not only can understand Dharma by words,but also can tally with Buddhist without words,so "the essence of myriad existences" is consist with "the convenient of teaching method" by his linguistic theory,and expresses the important meaning and value of language in realizing the ultimate truth of Buddhism.
