The Influence Of Colville Painting Language On My Painting Creation

Alex Colville,a famous contemporary Canadian realistic painter,highlights the rational order as well as the plain and melodious atmosphere in his paintings.His works are characterized by rigorous structure,delicate objects,and unembellished colors.Drawing inspiration from details in the living environment,Colville feels the changeable things with keen perception,and endows the prosaic side of life with vitality.Like all great arts,there is richness in simplicity.Under the orderly surface and in the steady and implicit color,he depicts a plain and distant world with an attitude of reason.He discovers the meaning of existence in the seemingly ordinary "meaninglessness" and explores the poetry in life.In this paper,Colville’s unique painting language is taken as the research object to explore the origin of the formal beauty of language in learning pictures,which can improve my own painting style and formal language.This article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly describes the internal causes of Alex Colville’s painting art formation,and introduces his experience as a war artist and his passion for literary trend of thoughts which had a profound influence on his artistic style.The second chapter starts with the expression form of the picture language in Colville’s works,makes a rational analysis of the composition,color and the arrangement between objects in the works,and studies his grasp of the overall rhythm of the picture,so as to find a unique artistic approach in his works.Based on my own artistic creation,the third chapter discusses the influence of Colville on my painting creation,the improvement on the artistic language expression of my paintings,and the reflection and summary on artistic creation..
