Reading and writing are two very important language skills in English learning.Writing can not exist independently.It needs to be based on reading.At present,teachers often separate the training of reading and writing which makes it difficult for students to improve their writing level.It’s not very helpful for the improvement of students’ writing proficiency.Professor Wang Chuming(2012)proposed that the combination of reading and writing should be applied to English teaching to realize effective input and efficient output,which can improve students’ English writing level.Reading-to-write approach is a new type of writing teaching method.Based on the situation of junior high school English writing teaching,the researcher is adopted the reading-to-write approach aims to explore whether this method can improve eighth graders’ writing ability.The research discussed the following research questions: 1.Can the reading-to-write approach improve junior high school students’ English writing ability? 2.What is the attitude of students to the reading-to-write approach?This study takes the eighth grade students of a middle school as the research subject,and sets up experimental class and control class.The experiment lasts three months.This study collected data through writing test and questionnaire survey.Then input the writing text into Pigaiwang and analyze it from four dimensions: language,content,text structure and writing specification.In addition,experienced teachers score student texts.Finally,the above data are analyzed by SPSS and answer the research questions.Through the analysis of the data,this study draws the following conclusions: Firstly,reading-to write can effectively improve junior high school students’ English writing ability and their achievements in language,content and text structure are significantly improved,but in terms of writing norms,the differences between experimental class and control class were not significant.Secondly,students accept and affirm the reading-to-write approach,and have a positive attitude towards it. |
