| With the rapid development of modern electronic information technology, the form of bullying has expanded from offline to online, and there has been cyberbullying.Due to the infinity and anonymity of cyberspace, the negative consequences brought by cyberbullying are more and more serious. There are more and more researches about cyberbullying, and from antecedents to the aftereffects of cyberbullying are involved.Based on the existing researches, this study takes bystanders, the largest group in cyberbullying,as the research object to explore the influence of social exclusion and self-control on the helping behavior of cyberbullying bystanders. In this study, undergraduates were selected as subjects to explore the influence of social exclusion and self-control on the helping behavior of cyberbullying bystanders. In the first study, the influence of social exclusion on the behavioral intention of bystanders’ willingness to help in cyberbullying was investigated by using the cyberball game experiment.A single-factor subject design was used. The independent variable was social exclusion(exclusion vs.acceptance),and the dependent variable was the bystanders’ willingness to help in cyberbullying. The result showed that the main effect of social exclusion was significant, that is,the bystanders’ willingness to help of social exclusion individuals was significantly lower than that of social acceptance individuals. This also proves that the social exclusion experiment paradigm adopted in the Studyl is also effective in the Chinese cultural context. On the basis of the first study, study 2a continued to explore the effect of trait self-control on the helping behavior of cyberbullying bystanders after experiencing social exclusion. The experiment was submitted to 2(social exclusion:exclusion vs.acceptance)× 2(trait self-control:high vs.low).The dependent variables were the bystanders’ willingness to help others in cyberbullying and the individual’s actual response of cyberbullying. In terms of the cyberbullying bystanders’ willingness to help others, the results showed that the main effect of social exclusion was significant, and the willingness to help behavior of exclusive group was significantly lower than that of acceptance group. The main effect of trait self-control was significant.Compared with low trait self-control group, the bystanders’ willingness to help others in cyberbullying of high trait self-control group was significantly higher. The interaction between social exclusion and trait self-control was significant. And in terms of the actual behavior of cyberbullying bystanders, trait self-control and social exclusion have no effect on the actual behavior of cyberbullying bystanders. The experimental results partially support the hypothesis 2a.Study 2b explored the effects of social exclusion and state self-control on helping behavior of cyberbullying bystanders. With the willingness of cyberbullying bystanders to help others as the dependent variable, the experiment was submitted to a 2(social exclusion:exclusion vs.acceptance)× 2(state self-control:high consumption vs.low consumption)between subject ANOVA.The effect of social exclusion and state self-control were significant. In addition, the interaction effect between social exclusion and state self-control was also significant. It means,in the high consumption group, individuals have lower willingness to help others in cyberbullying after experiencing social exclusion;state self-control and social exclusion have no effect on the actual behavior of bystander in cyberbullying. |
