On The Writing Of Trauma In Li Pei-fu’s Novels

Since the birth of human beings,trauma has become an important topic of universal existence.Trauma has enveloped the path of modern civilization and become a lingering shadow in the process of human development.As an objective reflection of the real world,the creation of literature is naturally influenced by the social environment.Therefore,it is impossible to avoid or ignore the existence of trauma in literary creation.Trauma writing has become an important part of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign literary works.A variety of wars,revolutions,disasters and movements provide the inevitable material for literary creation,and also inject vigor and vitality into the writing of trauma.Many writers consciously undertake to reflect and inquire about the fate of mankind,actively devote themselves to the writing of trauma literature,and create a large number of excellent works with depth and temperature.In this paper,many writers concerned about human trauma,choose Li Peifu as the research object to launch the discussion.Li Peifu is a famous contemporary realist writer.He always writes the land under his feet with affectionate eyes and calm style.In his growing process,the mental trauma caused by his unique life experience,such as hunger,poverty and disease,has left a deep imprint in his memory.Therefore,the trauma has become an important feature of his novels.Taking trauma as the fulcrum,Li Pei-fu examined the living conditions and spiritual fection in the process of individual growth.He poured his own deep insight and rational reflection into the creation.He used compassion and empathy to create different types of trauma characters,showing the types of trauma from multiple angles and multi-dimensions.Through the analysis of the contents and techniques of Li Pei-fu’s trauma writing,we have a deeper understanding of the living state and spiritual dilemma of the plain people under the new historical conditions.Based on the theory of trauma,this paper analyzes the types,themes,causes and manifestations of trauma in the characters in Li Peifu’s novels,explores the deep meaning and ideological value behind the trauma,and realizes sincere comfort and aesthetic redemption for the traumatized groups.Then it reveals the realistic significance of the trauma narration in Li Peifu’s novels in the contemporary society.This paper is mainly divided into four parts.The introduction part sorts out the literature creation of Li Peifu and the current research status of Li Peifu’s novels in the academic circle,points out that there is still a lot of research space on the writing of trauma in Li Peifu’s works,and briefly introduces the reason and background of the topic selection,as well as the research ideas and methods of this paper.The first chapter starts from the source of trauma theory,traces the etymological meaning of trauma,and sorts out the evolution and development of trauma in different historical stages,as well as the formation and improvement of trauma theory.And through pointing out the common existence of trauma writing in the field of literature to analyze the conditions of the combination of trauma and literature and the derived new problems,establish the research perspective of trauma narrative.The second chapter sorts out the types of victims portrayed in the novel,and summarizes the four categories of village rulers,those who leave the countryside and enter the city,the silent majority and the marginalized women,which almost cover all the characters in the novel and can better reflect the universality of trauma.The third chapter further elaborates the trauma,points out the different types and specific manifestations of trauma,involving the themes of physical trauma,childhood trauma and emotional trauma,and analyzes the realistic critical spirit of the novel.The fourth chapter will follow the author’s guidance,explore people’s difficult attempts to get out of the trauma haze and the obstacles of reality under the new historical conditions,reveal the endless trauma and difficult redemption through the different destiny of the characters in the novel,as well as the divine color reflected in the work.The conclusion affirms the realistic significance and aesthetic value of Li Pei-fu’s trauma writing,as well as causes us to think about some of the present.
