For thousands of years,the diversified foreign art and Chinese culture blend each other,forming a colorful art style of Dunhuang art.As one of the most outstanding artistic essences of Dunhuang,the caisson developed with the development of the Buddhist caves.The art of the caisson began to develop from the Wei,Jin and southern and Northern Dynasties,and was gradually improved in the Sui Dynasty.In the Tang Dynasty,its artistic value reached the peak.The caisson art in the Five Dynasties,the Western Xia and Song Dynasties tended to be stable,and the artistic language in different periods had its distinct characteristics.Based on the research of Dunhuang caisson art,this paper takes the caisson in more than ten caves with distinct Dynasty style in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes as an example.This paper studies and analyzes the art language of Dunhuang culture and Dunhuang caisson patterns by means of literature review,field investigation and pattern comparison.Starting from the historical origin and development of Dunhuang caisson,this paper analyzes and summarizes the structural characteristics,color configuration,modeling features and techniques of the caisson in the past dynasties.Besides,this paper studies and draws lessons from the essence of Dunhuang caisson art,extracts the caisson pattern with characteristics of the times,and infuses the contemporary art design concepts into traditional patterns,in order to excavate the new ideas of innovative application of Dunhuang caisson art and designs new patterns of Dunhuang that are more suitable for the aesthetic characteristics of the times.And thus Chinese traditional art can be better inherited and carried forward.
