| Affected by the epidemic of COVID-19,online teaching has become the main way for schools of all levels to carry out teaching activities since the Ministry of Education put forward the measure of “Keep Learning amid Class Suspension”.Moreover,the research about the cognition of foreign language teachers has gradually got more and more attention in the study of foreign language teachers’ development and learning.Teacher’s belief are affected by many factors such as educational methods,teaching environment,teacher-student interaction,etc.The online teaching during “Keep Learning amid Class Suspension” that changed the traditional teaching environment must bring new challenge to teachers’ teaching,so it is necessary to understand what factors of online teaching affect teacher’s belief.Through the analysis and understanding of these factors,it is of great practical significance for further online teaching,traditional classroom teaching and teacher training.The investigation and analysis of English teacher’s belief also provides a practical basis for the formulation of English teaching reform decisions.This study takes Dr.Xu Quan’s five core dimensions of English teachers’ teaching beliefs as theoretical framework.Applying questionnaire survey and interview methods,this study takes 668 senior high school English teachers in Hebei Province as the research subjects.This study aims at answering two questions: first,at present,what is the belief of senior high school English teachers? Second,in what aspects does online teaching affect English teacher’s belief? Based on the data,this paper draws the following results: firstly,online teaching during the period of “Keep Learning amid Class Suspension” has an influence on teacher’s belief.It is reflected in the view about English,the view about English teaching,the view about English learning,the view about the relationship between teachers and students and the view about English teaching profession respectively.Teacher’s belief has not changed in essence after online teaching,but some concepts in the belief system have been strengthened.Secondly,the effect of online teaching is not as good as that of traditional classroom teaching.The reason is that students can’t discipline themselves very well at home.Therefore,the belief of cultivating student’s learning autonomy is strengthened in all aspects of teacher’s belief system.Thirdly,the integration of information and English teaching makes the view about the relationship between teachers and student in the teacher’s belief system more comprehensive,which also deepen teacher’s understanding of the view about English teaching profession and so on.The Enlightenment brought by this study is that the network has been deeply integrated into education.The role of students under this background is no longer a simple learner.The characteristics of this era require the research and development of relevant software and hardware that is suitable for classroom inquiry learning.Teachers’ evaluation for students should not only rely on the paper scores,but also pay more attention to the development of students’ comprehensive abilities in information age.In addition,in information age,the new curriculum reform should pay more attention to cultivating teachers’ information literacy.If there is a need to realize the change of teachers’ beliefs,it is necessary to make teachers realize that the original beliefs are not applicable to current teaching,and then further promote the change of teacher’ beliefs through teaching evaluation of teachers’ education and other ways. |
