A Study On The Semantic Evolution Of Chinese "Jiu"

The word "Jiu" is frequently used in modern Chinese,with numerous sememes and rich semantics.It can not only express the objective conceptual meaning,but also express human emotion.The purpose of this paper is to study how "Jiu" developed from a single semantic to a complex multi-semantics,and what were the motivations and mechanisms that promoted its semantic’s evolution.This paper firstly traces the semantic source of "Jiu",combs the development of its semantics from the diachronic level,seeks for the semantic source of each sememe,and investigates the semantic evolution path of "Jiu".Then,on the basis of diachronic combing,it describes and combs the semantics of "Jiu" in modern Chinese from the synchronic level.Finally,on the basis of diachronic and synchronic studies,this paper discusses the reasons that promote the continuous enrichment of the semantics of "Jiu",namely the motivation and mechanism.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction.This part first introduces the reason of selecting the topic,the research significance,research content,research ideas,research methods and the source of the corpus of "Jiu".Secondly,from the lexicographical interpretation of "Jiu" and the di achronic and synchronic aspects of "Jiu" research,this paper sorts out and summarizes the current situation of previous research,summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of previous research,and provides a theoretical basis for the study of "Jiu".The second part is the semantic traceability and diachronic investigation of "Jiu".Based on historical dynasties and combined with the semantic development of node,there are six periods,from the various periods according to the work of language style and content selection,as far as possible representative at that time,the representative work of language usage,to summarize "Jiu" in the semantics,inductive sememe and usage,and then to summarize the semantic evolution of "Jiu".The third part is the semantic synchronic analysis of "Jiu" in modern Chinese.Based on the second part,this part sorts out the semantic usage of "Jiu" in modern Chinese on the synchronic level,analyzes the semantic category of "Jiu",constructs the semantic system of "Jiu",and reflects the relevance of "Jiu" semantics.The fourth part is the mechanism and motivation of the semantic evolution of "Jiu".This part includes two aspects of the mechanism and motivation of semantic evolution and discusses the reasons of semantic evolution of "Jiu".From the perspective of syntactic position,contextual absorption,subjectivity and lexical system,we hope to find a reasonable explanation for the semantic development of "Jiu".In terms of the motivation of evolution,it mainly uses the metaphor theory of cognitive psychology combined with the analytical tools of image schema to explore the semantic evolution of "Jiu".The fifth part is the conclusion.This part summarizes the content of the article and reflects on the shortcomings of the article.
