| Teachers’ professional identity means that teachers can recognize their own work internally,and make positive evaluations of the work they are engaged in.It is one of the significant psychological foundations for teachers to achieve their professional development.Therefore,strengthening the level of their own professional identity has become an important issue for teachers’ professionalization.As an essential part of the secondary school curriculum,English course is of great value to the formation of students’ key competency.The professionalization of English teachers impacts the effectiveness of English courses in secondary schools.However,the novice English teachers are confronted with problems such as insufficient teaching experience,heavy workload,unclear career development path,etc.The rapid professional growth depends on the objective understanding of their own profession and explicit recognition of the education value of subjects.Hence,it is significant to explore the professional identity of secondary school novice English teachers.This study conducted an investigation over 305 secondary school novice English teachers across China,with an aim to understand and analyze their professional identity recognition and influencing factors.The study is composed of three parts,namely the concept and framework construction,compilation and revision of research tools,analysis and discussion.The main research method in this article is literature research method,combined with questionnaires research,and interviewing method,through which empirical data were analyzed by SPSS 23.0.The basis conclusions are as follows,firstly,secondary school novice English teachers obtain relatively high recognition of their professional identity to varied degree within.Secondly,the professional identity recognition is related to various individual factors,among which the personal experience exerts major impact.Thirdly,interpersonal relationship and English professional quality outweigh other factors.Hence,the author puts forward that secondary school novice English teachers should enhance professional quality and create an enabling interpersonal relationship to achieve a higher identity of their profession. |
