| In English teaching of junior high school,reading plays an important role in mastering basic knowledge,developing students? interest,and improving their overall reading proficiency.And English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education(2011)proposes the criterion that students in junior high school should achieve in reading.However,students? reading ability,interest in reading English and many other factors have led to many struggles in reading learning,and significant differences among students? reading level have been caused.As a result,the study intends to apply stratified teaching to English reading in junior high school in order to improve the current situation of students? reading learning.Stratified teaching means that teachers stratify students according to their current mastery of knowledge,levels of ability and so on.And teachers set teaching objectives,teaching activities and other aspects simultaneously in order to promote students? interest in reading,promote their independent participation in teaching activities,and improve their reading proficiency.In this study,107 participants of two parallel classes in certain junior high school in certain school were taken as the subjects.The experimental class adopted a three-month reading teaching practice by means of stratified teaching,while the control class still adopted the original teaching method of the class,aiming to explore the following three points:(1)The effects of stratified teaching on students? reading attitudes in junior high school;(2)The effects of stratified teaching on students?participation in English reading teaching activities in junior high school;(3)The effects of stratified teaching on students? reading proficiency in junior high school.To solve the above issues,this study used questionnaire,classroom observation and test as research instruments.By analyzing the results of the questionnaire,the researcher concludes that stratified teaching had a significant positive effect on improving students? attitudes towards reading.Among them,the greatest facilitation effect is on students who have low interest in reading and do not actively participate in the teaching activities.Students are more willing to actively participate in the teaching activities and are able to take the initiative to engage in challenging activities.Finally,a comparison of the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental and control class reveals that students? reading scores has been improved in both classes,and the experimental class made more significant progress.The study shows that stratified teaching is adapted to New Curriculum Standard and has effectively promoted the improvement of students? attitudes towards reading,the positivity towards teaching activities and reading proficiency.Besides,it enables students to further narrow the difference among their reading proficiency. |
