Language Oriented To International City Construction Of Xi’an City Landscape Research

Linguistic landscape is a emerging hot research area in recent years,utilized with the research approach to sociology and linguistics,which has attracted the attention from domestic and foreign scholars,and they devoted to use interdisciplinary research methods to study this subject,thus domestic linguistic landscape research object mainly focus in the domestic research on public language area,and research view center on the perspective of translation,ignoring hot research areas.Then there are many scattered case studies,but few systematic macro studies in recent research.At present,more papers constructing on the whole system of linguistic landscape on public language area,but few of them are on the urban linguistic landscape of Xi ’an,a tourist city,and the existing research explore few problems and deficiencies.Furthermore,no research concern on the characteristics and names of the urban linguistic landscape of Xi ’an.In sum,there is still room for us to study.This paper collects 1,166 samples from 6 key commercial and tourist blocks in Xi ’an,and uses the definitive and classified study of linguistic landscape in this study,which divides the linguistic landscape subjects of all regions into official and private linguistic landscape in Xi ’an.In addition,the research conclusion of foreign sign in both official and private linguistic landscape in Xi ’an is illuminated,and the problems are clarified and solution are laid out.First,the number of Signs in Chinese ranks first,and followed by English,Korean,Japanese and Arabic.Second,English accounts for the highest proportion of foreign languages and a higher proportion in the official linguistic landscape.Third,more the private linguistic landscape in English signs,which shows imported goods in Xi ’an shops formed the large-scale.Fourth,although linguistic landscape of Xi ’an is rich in code,there are some mistakes in the setting and translation of signs,which result in the audience’s inability to obtain accurate information and affect the city image of Xi ’an.Fifth,the internationalization of Xi ’an still needs to be strengthened,and the variety of language codes is not enough.The official signs with multiple language codes also need to be increased,while the private signs should also comply with the development requirements of Xi ’an by adding bilingual and multilingual signs.Sixth,the political,economic and cultural development of Xi ’an has an impact on the development of Xi ’an’ s linguistic landscape.
