This is a report on the translation of Cyber Minds: Insights on cybersecurity across the cloud, data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Io T to keep you cyber safe by Shira Rubinoff,of which Chapter 9 “Can Artificial Intelligence(AI)be Trusted to Run Cybersecurity” is the source text. This chapter delves into cybersecurity trends from the perspective of artificial intelligence and focuses on some brilliant prospects and potential threats resulting from the integration of artificial intelligence into cybersecurity, which is of great significance for keeping cyber safe.As the source text is a scientific and technical text, coupled with differences of linguistic features and thinking modes between Chinese and English,it is natural that some challenges will emerge in the translation process, which mainly include the translation of passive voice, sentences with impersonal subject as well as long sentences with multiple clauses.Guided by communicative translation theory, the translator employs some flexible translation methods so as to deliver a readable target text.Specifically speaking, addition and use of disposal construction are employed in translating passive voice, addition and conversion are employed in translating sentences with impersonal subject while division and restructuring are employed in translating long sentences with multiple clauses.Through specific analysis of example sentences, this report aims to offer some insight into the treatment of such types of translation difficulties contained in scientific and technical texts.
