The Russian Orthodox Church During The Period Of The Mongol Rule

The Mongol rule over Russia lasted two and a half centuries from the fall of Kiev in1240 to the victory of Ivan III(1462-1505)over Ahmed Khan(1460-1481)in 1480.The Mongol rule seriously affected the political,economic and cultural development of Russia.Orthodox church not only exists as a religion in Russia,but also as an important cultural carrier.Since the establishment of the Orthodox Church in 988,the Russia countries have been closely linked.Before Mongol invaded Russia,the Orthodox Church had made initial development.Although the Russian Orthodox Church suffered a heavy blow during the Mongol invasion,However,with the establishment of Mongol rule in Russia and the implementation of religious tolerance policy,the Orthodox Church gained a series of privileges and achieved great development,which had a certain impact on the development of Russia.This paper based on the Orthodox Church of Russia in the period of Mongol rule,focuses on the performance and characteristics of the development of Orthodox Church,and then analyzes its influence on Russia.This paper consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.In the introduction part,the author mainly expounds the significance of this topic,and combs the collected domestic and foreign historical materials,especially the original literature related to the topic and the research status of domestic and foreign scholars.The body part is divided into three chapters,The contents of each chapter are as follows:The first chapter combs the general situation of Russian orthodox church before Mongol rule,This paper focuses on the plight of the Orthodox Church during the Mongol invasion,that is,the lives of religious personnel were threatened,the church was damaged,and the spread of Orthodox Church was hindered.The second chapter defines the concept of "The period of Mongol rule" according to the views of Chinese and Russian academic circles,which lays the foundation for the discussion of the following chapters.Focusing on the political status of the church,the economic strength of the church,the number and scale of monasteries,and the relationship between politics and church,the development performance of the Russian Orthodox Church during the Mongol rule is discussed.Trying to reveal the characteristics of the development of the Russian Orthodox Church during Mongol rule.The third chapter focuses on the analysis of the influence of the orthodox church on the development of Russia in the period of Mongol rule.At the social level,it discusses the Christianization of the Russian society and the formation and development of the Russian nation.On the cultural level,it expounds from four aspects: basic education,book compilation,church painting art and masonry architecture.The conclusion summarizes the previous discussion.Through the analysis of the development of the Orthodox Church of Russia in the period of Mongol rule,The author thinks that the choice of Orthodox Church is out of the consideration of its own interests,and makes the best choice for its own development.
