A Simulated Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting Practice Report On Solving Strategies Of Incoherence In Target Language Under The Guidance Of Translation Variation Theory

The fourth season of documentary Shanghai Craftsman is Dreams Pursuing,which jointly filmed by Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions and Dragon TV.As a medium that integrates visual and auditory senses,the cultural communication function of documentaries is irreplaceable.It talks about the typical stories of Shanghai craftsmen,and fully demonstrates the spirit of Shanghai industrial workers who strive for perfection and pursue excellence.The documentary was selected as the corpus for interpretative practice,aiming to carry forward the spirit of craftsmen,spread the Chinese craftsmen' spirit of daring to pursue dreams and innovate,and make the world better understand the brilliant achievements of Chinese craftsmen in various industries.This interpretative practice encounters three problems,including redundant information,lack of sentence composition,and disordered language.These problems cause incoherence in target language.Guided by Translation Variation Theory,redundant information can be settled by reducing redundant information,merging sentence information,and extracting sentence information;lack of sentence composition can be settled by adding the missing composition and using the passive voice;disordered language can be settled by rearranging sentence order and translating sentence information reversely.This simulated Chinese-English consecutive interpreting practice report addresses incoherence in the target language,and proposes appropriate solutions through examples.It is hoped that this interpreting practice can improve the interpreting quality of documentaries and provide some references for the interpretation practice of documentaries in the future.
