The report is based on The Belt and Road Initiative and Its Implications for Southeast Europe compiled by the Center for National Relations and Sustainable Development(CRISD).The book contains several research reports about the Belt and Road Initiative, which has influence on policy-makings.It is a political text as well as a research report of a think tank. Therefore,an accurate grasp of the information focus can reflect writers’ real attitudes.Information focus can be divided into marked information focus and unmarked information focus according to whether there are marks or not.The former refers to key information emphasized by lexical, syntactic and rhetorical markers. The latter has no special mark and key information is at the end of the main sentence.Focus should be emphasized in the translation. When there is unmarked focus in source text, attention should be paid to sentence structures.Simple sentence, compound sentence and complex sentence have their own key points in the process of translation. In order to emphasize the information focus, the translation has domestication as its strategy, free translation and variation translation as its methods, and addition and division as its techniques.Through the translation practice, the translator realized the importance of information focus in political texts and the ability to analyze and solve problems has been improved. It is hoped that the report can provide some suggestions for translating political texts by summarizing the translation methods and techniques in the practice.
