| Jianyang,Fujian has been an important town of engraving books since the Song dynasties,and the engraved book is known as "Jianben" by the industry.Jianyang has a large scale of bookshop printing in the Ming Dynasty.With a large number of inscribed novels,it has a wide range of spreading texts.Among them,the Romance of Three Kingdoms has the most editions,as well as the most complicated style of version.This paper selects the illustrated edition of the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms as the research object,analyzes the unique style of the illustrated edition and reveals the interaction between the cultural fashion of the Ming Dynasty and design aesthetics.This paper studies the illustrated edition of the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms created by Jianyang bookshop under the social and cultural background of the Ming Dynasty.Research method that combined with literature review and image analysis is used to study the form and elements of format,illustration design and visual language,etc.of the illustrated edition of the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms.Typical images in the illustrated edition of the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms are examined by the comparing of illustration and text,which is further used for the textural research of the design changing and image narrative skills in different stages of the Ming Dynasty.It also discusses the ecological mechanism and dynamic system of Jianyang’s illustrated edition of the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms in the Ming Dynasty,which further facilitates the understanding of the competitive spirit of “print for profit.”,as well as the change-seeking,human-oriented design philosophy.Taking the illustrated edition of the book as the empirical material,this study starts from this illustrated edition of the novel that combined with culture and aesthetic from the perspectives of format and image.Then,it explains the phenomenon of style evolution of Jianyang’s illustrated editions in the Ming Dynasty and analyzes the real situation of the book-printed design in Jianyang bookshop in the Ming Dynasty. |
