| The New English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017)requires that more attention should be paid to the four core competences of English,including linguistic competence,cultural awareness,thinking ability and learning strategies.As is known to us all,reading,as an important part of English study,is difficult for senior high schools students.Therefore,how to carry out learning activities in teaching English reading to help students better understand and reflect on the text has always been one of the most important aspects explored by teachers.For students,learning in senior high schools does not mean acquiring knowledge only.It is important for teachers to cultivate students’ various abilities through suitable teaching methods.As far as English reading teaching is concerned,it is necessary to develop students’ critical,logical and innovative thinking,improve their ability to analyze and solve problems,and enhance their awareness of cooperation and their ability of expression.Based on the theory of constructivism,cooperative learning and reflective learning,this study focuses on the combination of problem-based method with senior high schools English reading teaching in order to help students understand the content and ideas of the text accurately and cultivate students’ reading skills.This research mainly explores the following two questions:1.Is the application of problem-based teaching method helpful to senior high schools students’ English reading learning so that their English reading performance will be improved?2.What positive effects does problem-based teaching method have on English reading teaching in senior high schools?The purpose of this research is to study the practical significance of the problem-based teaching method through empirical research,questionnaires and comparative experiment.The research findings show that the problem-based teaching method can improve students’ problem awareness and reading ability,that the problem-based teaching method can improve students’ reflective ability,and that the problem-based teaching method can improve students’ cooperative awareness and expression ability.It turns out that the application of the problem-based teaching method is conducive to the senior high schools English reading teaching.Thus,this research is of some theoretical and practical significance to English reading teaching in senior high schools. |
