The Research On Wang Baoxin’s Stylistics

Wang Baoxin is a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.His works were abundant all his life.And he has made certain achievements in the fields of literature,history,and pedagogy.As far as literary research is concerned,Wang has made outstanding contributions to the articles and stylistics.This paper based on two works,Wang Baoxin’s “Tongyi of Ancient Ci” and “Jingyi’s Policy Theory”,to conduct a special research of his stylistic thoughts.The specific content includes:The first chapter summarizes Wang Baoxin’s life,writing and writing background.From the two levels of “study” and “study”,Wang’s main life experience is sorted out;the selection of Wang’s writings is introduced.This paper focuses on the system structure and value of the two books “Tongyi of Ancient Ci” and “Jingyi’s Policy Theory”,examines the background of Wang’s writings and theories,and reveals his coexistence of “defending old learning” and“accepting new knowledge” in the collision of different ideas between ancient and modern,Chinese and Western.The second chapter expounds Wang Baoxin’s stylistic classification.Wang’s contribution to the classification of styles is twofold: on the one hand,he inherited the style classification of Zeng Guofan,Li Wei and others.Wang renamed the style of “annotation” to “explanatory text”.And compared with Zeng and Li,it is divided into writing gate,record gate,and slogan gate in parallel to form a four stylistic classifications;at the same time,the two-level style and single style are explained in the form of “ontology” and “subsidiary”,especially in Zeng,Many original ideas have been put forward in the classification of writings,poems and other genres.On the other hand,when analyzing the three genres of Zeng and Li,he summarized the classification principle of “emotion,matter,and reason”.The so-called “emotion” has the meaning of “emotion” and “condition”,“matter” has the meaning of “narration” and“remembering things”,and “reason” implies “discussion” and “argumentation”.The third chapter discusses Wang Baoxin’s thought of differentiation.First of all,this paper discusses Wang’s analysis of the four stylistic systems.He summarizes the basic characteristics of the slogan as “exact and deep” and “broad and prosperous”,that is,the slogan should be simple and introverted.The content pursues profound and strict,on the whole shows the magnificent spirit.The basic system of the record,represented by the stele writing style,is to collect facts,while simultaneously adopting both argumentative and lyrical expressions.It also proposes that the record should be “simplified” from the three aspects of narrative skills,language and content “Resignation”.Taking Fu as an example,this paper points out that the basic characteristics of argumentative paper is to clarify the principle,and it should also be supplemented by “elimination” and “extension”,that is,taking into account the argument,layout,convergence and contraction of literary spirit,and the extension of intention.The explanatory text requires the language to be “concise and clear”,paying attention to the “empty song intersection” to obtain the intrinsic meaning of the article.Secondly,it discusses Wang’s analysis of the two types of imperial examination style system,which is simple in language and not lacking in literary style.And its content is solid and not falsified.He also advocates a system based on the principles of the scriptures,plus argumentation;Policy theory requires that it conforms to the basic characteristics of conciseness,straightforwardness,and grammar.The fourth chapter analyzes Wang Baoxin’s stylistic theory.First of all,Wang’s dialectical attitude towards new name is expounded.On the one hand,Wang believes that the use of new names and expressions in ancient texts has seriously undermined the ancient style norms based on “elegance”.On the other hand,he advocates the selective acceptance of new names and chooses the best and use it for my own use.Secondly,on the analysis of Wang’s prohibition of ancient prose,Wang believes that quotations,Fu and novels all have their own stylistic features.The creation of ancient prose should strictly adhere to the domain of the style,and should not be incorporated into the vocabulary of quotations,Fu and novels,or artistic techniques to maintain the purity of the ancient style.
