| As an important materialism thinker in the Eastern Han Dynasty,Wang Chong’s thought not only had an important influence on the society at that time, but also occupied an important position in the history of Chinese thought.Wang Chong’s thoughts are rich in content.Among them,Confucianism is an important part of his ideological system. This paper first analyzes the background of Wang Chong’s Confucianism from three aspects: society, thought and individual.Wang Chong lived in the early and middle period of the Eastern Han Dynasty, when,on the one hand, the growing power of the powerful landlords made the internal contradictions of the ruling class more complicated, and on the other hand, the social contradictions became increasingly acute as the common people’s life became increasingly difficult. In terms of ideology,Confucianism, which was regarded as a respected school in Emperor Wudi of the Western Han Dynasty, developed into a mystification and prophecy in the Eastern Han Dynasty.Under the influence of his family background, schooling and official career, wang chong finally formed his Confucianism with the characteristics of "respecting Confucianism" and "anti-Confucianism" interweaving.Wang Chong’s Confucianism is based on his philosophical cognition.Wang Chong held the view of "Heaven is not God" and "Heaven is natural",believing that all things are made up of matter, and heaven is no exception. This made him hold a critical attitude towards the Confucianism which was becoming mystified and prophetic in the Eastern Han Dynasty. At the same time, wang chong advocated "to experiment" and paid attention to effectiveness and demonstration, which laid the epistemological foundation for his criticism of the theory of "the response between man and nature" advocated by Confucianism.Together, they form the philosophical basis of Wang Chong’s Confucianism. The interpretation of "Confucian" is an important part of Wang Chong’s theory of Confucianism."Confucianism" was derived from the clergy of Yin and Shang Dynasty, and later, with the creation of Confucianism by Confucius, the narrow sense of "Confucianism" became the general term of scholars who were mainly specialized in the six art classics, and the "Confucianism" discussed by Wang Chong was not superior in general. On the one hand,Wang Chong divided Confucianism into Confucian scholars,Confucian scholars,Confucian scholars,Confucian scholars,Confucian scholars and Confucian scholars according to the level of Confucian classics and moral attainment. On the other hand,Wang Chong divided Confucianism into world Confucianism and literary Confucianism according to the way of preaching.Criticizing the series of thoughts of Confucianism constitutes another important content of Wang Chong’s theory of Confucianism. On the one hand,Wang Chong criticized the theory of "reaction between man and nature" and the concept of ghosts and gods advocated in Confucianism. But on the other hand,he absorbed and developed some Confucian thoughts, which was mainly manifested in his respect for Confucius and his thoughts. The last part of the article is a brief evaluation of Wang Chong and his Confucianism. As a thinker with critical spirit,Wang Chong’s evaluation has always been controversial and divided.Just like the controversy caused by Wang Chong himself, his Confucianism also shows the contradictory pattern of respecting Confucianism and anti-Confucianism. |
