| In 2015,the Ministry of Education used The Explanations on the National Entrance Examination of English for Colleges and Universities(Trial of the Comprehensive Reform of the College Entrance Examination in Provincials)which referred to as the Explanations,explicitly pointed out in the experiment provinces’ College Entrance Examinations,the composition part has divided into two parts,In the second part,the summary writing and the English continuation writing are involved in it.Both of them will not appear together and will regularly use every year.Hainan Province has began to use this new exam type since July,2020.Therefore,as a new exam type of the College Entrance Examination,it is a great challenge and a difficult problem for teachers and students,and it also prompts many schools to carry out the teaching practice of the English continuation writing.Hainan W senior high school is one of the earlier and influential schools to explore teaching practice of the English continuation writing.Therefore,this paper investigates the current teaching situation of English continuation writing of W senior high school in Hainan Province.Through interviews with teachers and students,combined with classroom observation and questionnaire survey,the author investigates and studies the implementation of W senior high school’s English continuation writing,its implementation effect and existing problems in order to answer the following three questions:(1)How does W senior high school implement the English continuation writing?(2)What is the effect of the implementation?(3)What problems does W senior high school have? What is the reason? What can be done?The results are as followed:(1)The English teachers of W senior high school in Hainan Province mainly used lead in,explore theme,clues analysis,speculate development and work appreciation to carry out the English continuation writing teaching.In the micro-skill course of the English continuation writing,students’ writing level is improved mainly by using topic introduction,identify words and sentences,skill usage,share evaluation and exam training as the micro-skill training.(2)Most students hold a positive attitude towards the evaluation of the English continuation writing,and believe that the teaching of the English continuation writing has efficiently helped them make progress in both learning motivation and learning interest.(3)Mainly problems in Hainan W senior high school are still remained.For example:Insufficient guidance on the strategy of students’ English continuation writing;Teaching steps of the English continuation writing should be improved;Content of the students’ English continuation writing is single;Evaluation of the English continuation writing is not systematic and comprehensive etc.The main reasons for the problems are mentioned,teachers do not pay enough attention when students use the learning strategies in the English continuation writing,they lack of thinking about teaching steps and teaching links,they also lack of innovation at the end of the English continuation writing story,and they are short of systematic evaluation of the continuation works.Finally,this paper presents some advice by strengthen the guidance of students’ English continuation writing strategies,adjust the arrangement of teaching links and teaching steps,multiple the endings of the story and optimize the English continuation writing evaluation system,the author hopes this can help the English teachers in the front line to implement the English continuation writing teaching,improve the students’ continuation ability and the level of writing,so as to improve the students’ English learning effect. |
