The emergence of social media has changed people’s traditional way of living,working and socializing.People’s communication is no longer limited by distance,scope and time.And the object of communication is no longer limited to relatives and friends.With the development of the times,online social media has increasingly become an indispensable part of people’s lives: it not only enriches people’s leisure activities,but also provides people with a large number of employment opportunities,etc..It has brought a lot of convenience to our life.However,online social media is a double-edged sword at the same time.While it brings convenience to our lives,it also has a certain adverse effect on our health.Therefore,the adverse effects of online social media on health have begun to become a source of social anxiety.As teenagers are important users of social media,the impact of online social media on their physical and mental health is a major focus of social attention.In view of this,the translator chose the applied psychology work Teenagers,Social Media and Health to translate into Chinese,hoping to introduce different ideas from abroad,to broaden the international horizon of domestic insiders,and provide references for the majority of online media users and people around them.The original book has four parts,which include background,case studies,the analysis of case studies and recommendations,aiming to provide policy makers,parents,teachers,and practitioners with new theoretical and practical guidance on social media and young people’s health.In translation,based on the in-depth analysis of text features,this report categorizes and summarizes the difficulties encountered in the translation process.Under the guidance of relevance theory,it analyzes the translation strategies used in the process of vocabulary,syntax,and text translation from multiple dimensions such as enhancing context effects and reducing readers’ processing effort,etc..So the translation has achieved a good translation effect.Through the translation work,it is also hoped to provide beneficial translation strategies and theoretical reflections for the translation of such texts.As a result,as one of the first domestic introductions of such documents from abroad,the translation of this text introduces new foreign concepts and multicultural viewpoints,thereby promoting the development and international exchanges of related knowledge in this field in China.At the same time,in the process of translation,the view that relevance theory has strong explanatory power for translation is further confirmed by the use of the theory to guide the translation,which favorably promotes the development of Relevance Translation Theory.Finally,it is also hoped to provide valuable experience for the translation,communication,and teaching in relevant fields in the future.
